The Riddle Game

Basically its easy, one person will start with a riddle, you have to answer it and give another for the person under you, here we go, ill start off with an obvious one to get the chat going

A Treasure chest without key, hingers or lid,
But inside a golden treasure is hid
What is it?

The riddle thread over in the GW forums was awesome, but I think it died after we all ran out of riddles to tell each other... Razz

That's a tricky one Ruster... all the snakes I can think of ending in 'er' don't make real words when you take it off. ie: Vip, Add, Boa Constrict (actually, I think that ends in 'or'), etc. I'll be thinking about this one for a while...

Ah, I got it!

It's a Dryad (sp?), correct? (for anyone who doesn't know, a dryad is a kind of a wood nymph, and I think it originates from Greek mythology). Sorry to spoil it for everyone, but I've been spending the past few days turning that one over in my mind, and I was too overjoyed to keep the answer to myself when I figured it out.

- did you make that one up yourself? It was the magical being clue that gave it away for me though (as well as Vromoth's guess partially). Now I'll have to think of something... Unfortunately, most of the riddles that I know are pretty old and well known... Ok, I did post this at Gameware once before, but because I think it's a good riddle I'd like to post it here too, so I'd appreciate it if those of you who already know the answer keep quiet about it for a little while (unless you all know it, in which case someone else can do a riddle Razz

):

"Two men are rescued from being shipwrecked for several weeks. Upon arriving into port, they are taken to the nearest restaurant for a meal. Given that the port was a fairly poor district, the restaurant's specialty was 'Seagull Sandwich' (made from real seagull meat). The two men ordered a sandwich each, and both took a bite at the same time. One man finished his mouthful commenting that it was 'just as he remembered it' whilst the other man promptly threw up. Why was this?"

Easy! They were stranded with other people, and to survive they had to eat dead bodies. But to stop people acting sick, they covered it up by saying the meat was seagull!
