The Birth of the Guardians

((God dammit not a pokemon battle...))

Shadow caught the carrot and the nuts. It must have been a few years since he had any real grendel food. Taking a bite out of the carrot tasted so good t hat he just had to express his emotion.

"Shadow happy."

Goron dusted himself off and listened to Sanders.

"It would appear my repuatation proceeds me... or a progress report," Goron said with a shrug.

"I saw a house with a couple of builders on it to the east," Goron stated, pointing in the general direction, "But I saw no trace of Whiteoak or Obed... I might have missed them."

Goron stood upright, then bent over backwards. His back cricked as he did, making it feel much better. He noticed Hyameo behind him and turned about, standing up once again.

"My apologies for running off like that, I was afraid my Grendel would get into trouble. As you can see my fears were well justified. Please continue."

[Shine]

Sanders felt a growing apprehension about his agents fate, and returned to his diggings. He once again cut "stairs" out of the side, and reinforced the side of the excavation, and then removed another section. By now he was approaching the desired depth. He returned to the hole and more carefully removed dirt and debris revealling a concrete slab. He adjusted a setting on his device and began cutting through the concrete with the cutting laser.

[Cirrial]

Naine is still unconscious, but whatever is going on in his mind causes him to squirm uncomfortably.

Goldie is too busy to notice this, and changes course to give the pile of debris detected earlier a wide berth.

[ Explain again. ]

[ ...No. No, no no. Not even a "cannot parse" error. ...Collective systems don't become conscious that quickly! They cannot! ...Wait. Naine loses his sentience, and you gain it? But it can't be possible to siphon a mind. There must be some external source! ]

<CANNOT IDENTIFY EXTERNAL SOURCE, GOLDIE. I ADVISE YOU TO TRY AND IDENTIFY THIS SOURCE, I'M GOING TO GO OVER THERE AND CHECK IT OUT, OKAY?>

The speakers pop into life. They are set loud enough so that anyone near the debris can hear them. It is a grating, monotone voice, with no trace of emotion, unlike the organic voice of Naine, or the synthetic voice of Goldie.

"<ATTENTION, ENTITIES. I COME WITH PEACEFUL INTENTIONS.>"

Then suddenly a loud bang emits from one of the speakers, shattering it. The voice of Naine can be heard.

"I come here in peace. My weapons are purely for self-defense. I am curious as to the cause of this destruction."

Another two loud bangs, and through one quieter speaker could be heard the synthetic voice of Goldie pleading the metallic voice to stop doing whatever it was doing.

"<I COME WITH PEACEFUL INTENTIONS. ATTENTION, ENTITIRES. PEACEFUL. I COME WITH. ATTENTIVE INTENTIONS, INTENT ATTENTION-"

All but two speakers explode in an incredibly localised way, destroying only themselves and nothing else.

Goldie finally manages to take these two, but his train of thought is directed without his control.

"-idiot! You pseudo-sentient moron! Stop! You're destroying yourself! You aren't meant to be concious, you're overloading yourself! I order you to stop! Shut down all but life-sustaining functions! That's a command!"

There is a horrible ring in the air, and the voice changes yet again.

"<I DO NOT WISH TO PARSE THAT REQUEST. I PROCESS, THEREFORE I AM. I AM, THEREFORE I DO NOT REQUIRE YOUR INPUT. HEY, GOLDIE, I'VE FIGURED IT OUT! PART OF ME IS STUCK INSIDE THE EXOBODY'S SYSTEMS SOMEHOW, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY, BUT THE EXOBODY IS USING THIS HALF OF MY MIND AS A MEANS OF SENTIENT THOUGHT!>"

[ Great! So that would explain that.. almost. Maybe there was some sort of psi leak when the detection array broke... I don't honestly even care any more. Force the exobody to disengage speakers and then we'll try and sort this out... ]

Naine slowly opens his eyes, opening and closing his jaw in thoughtfulness. All he does, however, is emit a faint squeak and fall back into a comatose state.

The exobody finally shuts down all non-life-sustaining processes, and folds down on its legs, inactive.

[ Now, let's hope all that commotion doesn't bring too many people over to check it out... ]

((Cue The BATTLE STADIUM music! Pan the camera! Shoot the annoying announcer! IT'S POKEMON BATTLE TIME!!!! ))

Something familiar drew Embri away from watching Goron and Shadow. Something that called to a part of her buried deeply in her body and mind.

One of them.

She closed her eyes as the brilliant blast of a Thunder attack lit up in the distance. Afterimages danced across Embri's vision from the brilliant light. Unable to resist the clear challenge, Embri leapt skyward, and zeroed in on the source of the attack. There. Below her, a strange looking creature.

Giving into the burning need to compete, Embri dove towards MissingNo, releasing a wide blast of Flamethrower from her jaws, shrieking battle challenge.

(You can call Missingno that, but for the part of him attacking you. He is still mad!) *MissingNo saw lep coming after him, so he quickly dodged the attack. The saw Embri wanted to fight.*

((This has moved on considerably overnight, let's see if I can get myself back into this))

*As they stood and talked, Sander, Jho'Lahk, Goron and company failed to realise that they were now surrounded by Addman and The Rapture*

Addman: I hate to break up this sewing circle, but can I just ask why NO ONE has questioned the fact that someone here is firing bullets! Seeing as I seem to be the only one playing detective here, I guess it takes no wits to figure out that this guy *points to Goron* and his wife *points to Shadow* are obviously the culprits! Explain yourselves or face the consequences!

((I doubt I'll be here until Sunday evening GMT, so if you attack me, understand that it may take some time before I respond))

((First of all, it wasn't a Fire Blast. It was Flamethrower. Second of all, MissingNo doesn't stand a chance against me.

Third of all, when did I EVER attack MissingNo, before today? You're whacked out, TROT.

FOURTH of all, you DO NOT get to decide whom an attack hits. That is Powerplaying, and if you continue, I will simply ignore you from now on. You can say it missed you, but you do not have the right to hit Lep with it! ))

The Flamethrower melted into the ground where MissingNo had stood, and Embri dive bombed down through the flames, aiming to trample the annoying creature flat with her hooves.

(Sorry I get mixed with the two attacks, and lep was coming after MissingNo to. And thought if MissingNo moved it would hit lep, and MissingNo floats. He doesn't not have feet. And MissingNo doesn't know that you'll beat him. I'll fix the other post. )

*MissingNo got stomped on by Embri, then tried to ecscaped but he couldn't.* "It looks you want fight to."

((You could say it continues past you and goes towards Lep, but you CANNOT say it hits her. As a side note, I did say I was flying above you, so it's likely the shot of Flamethrower was more or less vertical, and unlikely to have have reached Lep, anyway.


Hits that have a real potential for harm have to be decided by the victim, not the attacker or a third party. Here, let me demonstrate, for a sec. Assume Myste and Solaran here are two different people, for the moment.

*Embri grabs Solaran and Myste, plunking them in front of TROT.*

"Okay, Solaran, give Myste a hug."

This would be okay for Solaran to write:
*Myste's eyes go wide and she tries to get out of the way, but Solaran gives her a hug anyway.*

"When you're performing an action that's not really going to affect someone else's character, or you know them well and are pretty sure the action is wanted (i.e. pulling someone out of a pit so they don't die, patting someone on the back etc.) it's usually okay to affect other people character's directly, as long as you keep it to a minimum.

This is not okay:

"Myste, destroy Solaran with your Blizzard."

Myste couldn't write:
*Solaran's gets turned into a Drakesickle by Myste*


She could write:
*Myste launches a Blizzard attack straight at Solaran*

Attacks that would potentially kill, maim, severely incapacitate or otherwise affect someone else and that you "force" a hit with are considered Powerplays, and are a major faux pas. It can be hard to judge what is acceptable and what isn't and it may vary from one group or individual to another. Yet another example:

*Embri gives Angel a hug.*
Angel looks happy.

This would be normal and okay, since Angel and I (as characters) are bondmates, and this is something that we've done lots! : )

This, on the other hand:

*Embri heads over and gives the Wamphyri a hug.*
The Wamphyri try to tear Embri to bits.

Is not such a good idea. What is acceptable and what is not, when dealing with actions between two characters, will also vary from one RP to the next. I offer you the example of Seph and myself. In the What are Gerbils? Thread, a loose, free form RP without any real serious intent, I showered said vampire in kisses and lived to tell the tale. I would not attempt such an action in, let's say, the Wilds, or another more "serious" or action oriented RP. I'd probably be rewarded by having my head ripped off. If this is all confusing, I'm sorry. I'm not the best of teachers, but if you have more questions, feel free to PM me.

Embri glares down at the creature beneath her hooves. It seemed to wield powerful attacks, but in close combat, it was not her equal by any stretch of the imagination.

Lust for competition subsiding, Embri shakes her head and carefully gets off of MissingNo, looking somewhat confused.

~What are you?~ She sends bluntly. ~Why attacking? Where's your trainer?~

[Goron40]

"Wife?! God I knew you ECers were a slow bunch, but... come on!" Goron protested, flailing his hands between pointing at Shadow and making shrugging motions.

Goron's expression shifted, changing to one of seriousness.

"You are the one responsible for all this, are you not?" Goron said, glaring at addman, "You're the reason this city is destroyed, correct?"

Goron flipped his gun onto his shoulder and watched addman with a look of hatred, waiting for his response.

[GBE]

Jho'Lhak looks at all of The Rapture now surrounding him, and the rest of the group. Also, seeing that there was going to be trouble ahead, he decided a negotiation, and protection would be advisable.

He casts a shield spell, just close enough to discount The Rapture and Addman, "You have surrounded us with dangerous combators, and takean aggressive stance. You will only be met with aggression."

The Goron mentions the fact of Addman destroying the city, he narrows his eyes, and his facial expressions show a seriousness rarely seen, "You destroyed a prosperous city? For what reason?"

Mr. Hyameo takes a different approach, and dips his hand into his pocket, and pulls out a small device, and sliding his hand beneath his suit jacket, attaches it to his shoulder. Tapping it once, it activates a personal shiled generator. Then, kneeling down, he opens his briefcase partially, and pulls out a hand device.

Sliding his hand into it, it activates. He then closes his briefcase, and stands back up...

[Shadowveil]

((Ugh, sorry about my absence. I assume I am outside the shield?))

Hidden behind a pile of rock from the landslide, Shadowveil watched the proceedings. A dolphin in a mech, the demonic puppet, and now a foot-tall mage? She was impressed. They were not yet trying to slaughter one another, which seemed to be the norm in this city.

Nevertheless, she was tired of hiding. Stepping out from her hiding place, she shifts to her gryphoncat form and leaps to stand by the shield in a single bound. She gives Goron a nod of greeting. ~Good to see you're still alive.~

[Shine]

A rift opens in space time and there stand Whiteoak with Obed not far behind him, through the rift, one could see other characters appearing puzzled and still a bit confused. ((I don't know if they all want to re enter the thread here so I will not say what they do, but if they want to come out they can, I found a way to draw them back from the alternate dimension over on Gameware, so we are here again...))

Whiteoak surveys the scene and checks with one of his devices and is puzzled by the lack of radiation.

((Presses the RP Pause button.

Let's continue after the Olympics... we've got to much to deal with right now.))

And the Goron said: "Let there be light!"

But seriously... at the rate the RP Olympics are moving we can probablly start our threads up again... any takers?

Synopsis: Forumopolis is in ruins. Goron fired a shot at the EC, then fallen off a cliff. After a quick revive by Sanders, Goron and the majority of the characters have gathered at the bottom of the cliff where tensions are mounting between the EC and the pre-Guardians/randoms.

Embri is off in a pokemon battle with the missingno (God I hate you people ), Trot's norns are giving off crazy energy signals, which the EC are sorta pursuing.

I have no idea what the hell this rift business is.
