As you may or not know, DP asked me to run the bookmakers a while back. Since the 1st heats of the RP Olympics are over, and it may be changing home, there has been a lot of confusion regarding results. It is my sad duty to report that I've had to refund anyone's cash who betted on Kumo and GBE's battle, as no victor was declared before the thread was lost.

But to make up for it, I've added two new bets. These are both bets on whether Blackstar will reach major landmarks during the year 2006. First up, will Blackstar reach the 50,000 total post mark before 2007? The boards are growing, and it's nearly up to 10,000 posts already.

The other is will Blackstar reach the 200 members mark before 2007? 70 odd members already and growing, Blackstar may just make it before the year is out.

I'll use this thread to add more later.

BUMP!

The RP Olympics are here, and to kick things off, I've uploaded the latest announced matchups along with hot-off-the-press odds on each of these. Go to the bookmakers and bet on those dead certs, but before you do, here's a quick run down of each match step by step:

Individual Tournement - Round 1:

Individual: Round 1 - Match 1: Churitsu (Shaon)5/3 v Naine (Cirrial)2/1

Shaon has a lot of experience when it comes to RPs, in fact, she pretty much wrote the rule book. But Cirrial has proved himself to be a great RPer after his performance in the last tournament and could well become an outside favourite amongst the punters.

Individual: Round 1 - Match 2: Collator (GBE) 3/2 v Mika 4/1

Although it appears that Micka's weapons would have a tough time against Collator's tough cybernetic body, both characters mind reading abilities could swing this one either way.

Individual: Round 1 - Match 3: Father Mac 3/1 v Ace Addman 5/1

Ace Addman is not yet battle tested and is an unknown quantity at this point. Father Mac's proven skills could become vital here.

Individual: Round 1 - Match 4: Little Sister (3kul) 3/2 v Masamura (Mag) 6/1

Master vs pupil. 3kul will be able to utilise LS as best as he can to counter Masamura. Since 3kul apprenticed Mag, no one knows his style better. Mag will have to work hard to come out on top here.

Individual: Round 1 - Match 5: Forte in Kassato 2/1 v Magus Magus 3/1

Both have been lurking on Gameware for a similar amount of time. Magus will depend on his environment, so a bad arena could swing this match away from him, but have both competitors picked up some new skills since we last saw them?

Tag Team Tournement - Round 1:

Tag Team: Round 1 - Match 1: Sora/Masamura (Mag) 7/1 v Embri/Angel (SheeMon) 4/3

Embri and Red Angel are an established pair and are a proven force. Mag will do well to control two characters against these veterans.

Tag Team: Round 1 - Match 2: Cirrial/Churitsu (Shaon) 2/1 v Father Mac/Azaria 3/1

Shaon's seniority and Cirrial's style may prevail in this gruelling match. But father Mac and Azaria are a force to be reckoned with.

Tag Team: Round 1 - Match 3: Addman/Holloweyes 5/4 v GBE/Fade (Swix) 2/1

Holloweyes wide array of charms and Addman's tried and tested character make this a battle to watch. Phase and Fade are opponents to be reckoned with, and both are talented, so this should be a tough call to the very end.

Team Tournement:

Round 1: EC 2/1 v Guardian 4/1

The EC have handpicked their finest for this matchup, and are the established force around these parts. The Guardians have poached some excellent up and comers and have everything to prove. This one will go to wire.

Round 2: Corporate 3/2 v Blackstar 5/1

Blackstar, having lost Embri, are at a disadvantage against the ruthless Corporation, who won't hold anything back when it comes to this battle. But will their hatred of the Corporation fuel their desire for victory?

I know, the descriptions only allow for 50 characters, so I excluded Cirrial's real name on the basis that his username is the same as the character. I don't mean to suggest you are both the same person.

OK, since the challenge arena has been set up recently, this has given you Blackstarians (or whatever you like to call yourselves these days) another chance to gamble your money away.

Goron kindly pointed out that there was a gambling opportunity there, so I have set up two new bets relating to fights currently taking place there.

Fight 1: Drlupinmario vs Alakin

DLM: 2/1

Alakin: 6/4

DLM is fighting as Gerard, Alakin is fighting as Yiol. Alakin has been around Blackstar longer and has a higher belt ranking than DLM, hence the lower odds, but DLM has everything to prove in this matchup.

Fight 2: Swix vs Goron

Swix: 4/3

Goron: 4/3

Swix is fighting as Grarg, and Goron is fighting as Shadow. This match is so tough to call, it'd be splitting hairs to choose. Both are talented rpers, and their contrasting styles will make this a very interesting battle.

Now then, now then. New bets up for the second round of the Olympics:

Individual:

Fight 1 Churitsu v Micka

Churitsu (Shaon): 5/3
Micka: 2/1

Shaon's notorious RP skills (And work for the RP Masters) ensures that she remains the favourite in this matchup, but Micka is resourceful and fought off tough competition in the last round. This one will be interesting.

Fight 2 Ace Addman v Little Sister

Ace: 3/1
Little Sister: 2/1

3kul holds an RP master title and has some of the most original and well thought out characters, but Ace scored very highly in the first round and his personality will make this fight a lot more unpredictable. Such a tough call, you know that it's going to go to the wire.

Fight 3 Magus v Sirus (SFOT)

Magus: 4/3
Sirus: 5/1

Magus defeated a god in round 1, pushing his odds up high. Despite Sirus' low odds, there are many opportunities to exploit a ball of slime.

Tag Team:

Fight 1: Embri/Angel v Cirrial/Churitsu

Embri/Angel: 6/1
Cirrial/Churitsu: 3/2

Due to Embri's departure, this team is an unknown quantity at this point, giving Cirrial and Shaon the advantage in terms of odds, but who knows what Embri has planned.

Fight 2: Embri/Angel v Holloweyes/Addman

Embri/Angel: 6/1
Holloweyes/Addman: 3/2

Due to Embri's departure, this team is an unknown quantity at this point, giving Holloweyes and Addman the advantage in terms of odds, but who knows what Embri has planned.

Fight 3: Holloweyes/Addman v Cirrial/Churitsu

Holloweyes/Addman: 3/2
Cirrial/Churitsu: 3/1

Holloweyes and Addman are two experienced characters and have worked well as a team so far. Cirrial and Churitsu are also experienced and have advanced so far in the competition. A tough call.

Team
Fight 1: Guardians v The Corporation

Guardians: 3/2
The Corporation: 2/1

The Guardians overcame the EC in the last round and have some great talent on their side for such a young group, but the Corporation have robots! Dude!
