Offended by a Phrase

As much as I hate censorship, I have to agree with DP on this. It's his forum, he can do what he likes and we have to either respect it or get out.

I know I would be offended if the word 'gay' was used in offence, but I don't think either of the words should be placed on the censor.

I think you've got a lost case here, 3kul, and continuing to argue might not be the best of ideas. I understand and pretty much agree with you, but as noted before we have to respect his decision no matter what we think of it.

I did not mean to start a general censorship debate. My personal feelings about the word in question were only a part of my issue. If I had seen the phrase once in a post I most likely would have let it slide. But I was concerned if the phrase was about to be regualrly and widely spread about the site as a filter replacement phrase. That I was concerned about and wanted to stop. I see 3kul's point about the other uses of the word, I wasn't asking for a ban on the it.

But, It's DP's site, he can deal with it as he deems best.

When I get in to college I should take a psychology course. I've always been fascinated on how such an insignificant complaint (no offense intended) can escalate to a large controversy almost instantanously. What I envision happening is that the disapproval is stated, a few people take note and give their ten cents, and, after considering the opinions put forth by other members, the Almighty Sensei makes a decision on the issue. Case closed.
But, it seems, the argumentative nature of humankind has prevailed. Thankfully, in this instance, the issue was resolved before a fullblown crisis ensued. (And yes, that is a possible outcome of something like this!)

EnDSchultz is tacit for a reason - his words are gold, and best spent in moderation. When he does make a post, it is well worth noting.

The psychology of this issue is worth some investigation. I believe it originates from the openess of this community and the anonymity of the internet. I am glad to see this topic pass without any extreeme verbal harassment, and I should hope that this shall be put to rest.
