((This is the first in a series of Dark Truths roleplays. This is to be a serious roleplay (although humour is obviously allowed where it fits into your roleplay).
This is open to everyone who wishes to join. However, there is one request/rule: If you are going to be going away at all, or do not wish to continue further in the roleplay, please make a realistic exit. Just ou of respect to all others roleplaying.
This is going to be quite long, and there will eventually be a multitude of characters being used, so prepare for some very large posts. The reason this is open to everyone, as it is for character development, major character development. This is set in present time on Blackstar, although it will be mentioned if the setting is elsewhere.
This is a perfect oppurtunity to fit in your character histories into your present day roleplays, and you might even end up roleplaying with others you never expected to. I hope to see everyone here, but I doubt that'll happen.
Anyways, enjoy have fun, keep reading, and join in.

Footsteps can be heard, pounding on the nights pavement as someone runs. Their image flashing through the streetlights illuminating the otherwise dark and desolate streets. Disposed bottles and cans can be heard rattling as this person kicks them as they run. Occasionally, small shards of glass can be heard being broken into even smaller shards. Seconds later a group of footsteps can be heard pounding behind them, combined with angry shouting, curse words and general abuse being yelled.
It turns out that the person running from this angry mob is young female, in her mid-twenties, dirty blonde hair tied into a pigtail held in place by one small black band at the base of the hair where it has all be grouped together, and one at the botton of the 'tail', keeping the hair tidily grouped together, stopping it from flailing around or getting trapped. She slightly dirty white trainers splash into the occasional puddles, some of them not water.
She turns a corner leading into an alleyway, and she skids to a halt as she realises its a deadend. There is no way to climb the walls, and nothing to clib onto to escape the alleyway. She was about to turn around when she was confronted with the mob, her face a mixture of determination and fear. She buttons up her sleeveless denim jacket, with her white t-shirt only being seen by its short sleeves poking out of the holes where her denim top sleeves would be.
Her jeans are alspo denim, with the knees being torn, either out of fashion, or just careless upkeeping doesn't change the fact. She looks around for a weapon, finding only shards of glass. She turns back to face the first person to enter the alleyway, a lithe man, sporting an unkempt beard, dressed in dark blue denim jeans, black clean shoes and a smart short sleeved shirt, unbuttoned at the collar, but tucked into his jeans. In his hand, he wields a baseball bat which he leaves swinging by his side.
His mouth curls into a snarl, strangely deforming the moustache as his upper lip changes shape. His eyes, which are strangely compassionate looking, a light blue in colour narrow as he stares down the woman. She takes up a boxing stance, seeing no other way out past the mob. Even though she's out-numbered, this isn't going to stop her. She begins to stride towards the man, when from somewhere in the crowd, a bottle is thrown, and hits here square in the fore-head, shattering as it does.
Letting out a small, high-pitched yelp of pain, she brings a hand up to her forehead, finding it warm and sticky, as blood suddenly passes over her eyes. Her vision begins to blur, the darkness almost blocking out everything. Her head pulsates as a headache begins to set in, when she feels her abdomen explode with an incredible amount of pain. She's not sure now, but she thinks she might be kneeling.
All of the sounds swim around her ears, almost as if she herself were swimming underwater. She feels something take hold of her head, but now she can't feel her arms, she doesn't even know where her arms are. She hears someone murmur something near her ear, but nothing more than that as the man begins to formulate his own plan, being cheered on by the rest of the mob, who gather closer... _________________ Books are source of knowledge, knowledge source of power, power is source of corruption, corruption is crime.Reading books will get you imprisoned!

From the opposite side of the dark street to the one the mob had been chasing the woman, small echoes of laughter can be heard. The laughter manages to be both innocent, chilling and young at the same time.
This was a bad part of town, glass and rubbish littered the floor and there was the occasional cracked or broken lamp. Only roughs roamed the streets at this time of night, and yet... two young figures wandered through the streets happily, as if nothing in the world could touch them.
Even in the dark between the lampposts, it was just possible to tell these two were mere teenagers, and young teens at that. The two walked along the middle of the road, oozing confidence. The shoulder length hair of one waved about in the cool breeze, the light from one of the posts briefly caught it and made it shine bright red.
As they approached the alleyway, they could hear rowdy, rough sounding men laughing and yelling encouragement to one of their number.
Curiosity overwhelmed the pair, one hefting a large, tubular item as they approached. Light from a lamppost flooded the ground around the alleys entrance, causing the shadows of the two to elongate and catch the attention of one of the men nearest the entrance.
He seemed annoyed at being interrupted, previously having his fist up in the air as he'd been loudly cheering. Bright green eyes peered out from bushy brown eyebrows, and unkempt tuft of hair on his head was graying near the temples. He pointed a bulky arm at the two figures watching them, a long brown coat draped over his shoulders. It was unbuttoned, showing a dark grey t-shirt underneath, with brown trousers that matched the long coat.
The man's annoyed gaze only increased as he realised the two watching them were no more than kids.
"Ya should run along home, kids. This 'ere be no place for ya"
He said in a thick Scottish accent, lip curled. The two 'kids' simply stared back, the red-heads yellowish green eyes almost looking demonic in the light bathing them from behind. The girl was only around 4'3, a black leather jacket encasing the upper half of her body, zipped up against the cold. She wore black jeans, and one of her black walking boots tapped against the paved floor as she folded her arms and stared at the man.
To her left stood a young teen boy, who couldn't have been more than thirteen years old. His hair was short and messy, the normally light brown colour looking a little darker. His dark eyes glanced at the girl, then back at the large man who'd confronted them. He shifted the large lump he grasped between both arms, close to his dark blue denim jacket. It would seem he'd had the same idea as the girl, his jacket was firmly buttoned up. The bottom of his dark blue jeans flapped in the wind as the girl unfolded her arms.
"We don't want to go home"
The girl said stubbornly, catching the attention of more than just the one man now, the others turning in surprise to look at the two teens.
"Tha's besides tha' point. We're havin' a li'l fun and yeh're too young ta be out now... Mebbe we should teach ya a lesson li'l girl"
The man said, he and the rest of the group of strangers that weren't preoccupied with the downed woman advancing upon them.
The girl frowned at them, kicking a broken piece of glass.
"You're not nice. We don't like people who aren't nice"
She stated, her eyes taking on a mischievous look as the boy next to her lowered the item he'd been carrying and pointed it at the group. The barrel gleamed in the light, revealing the item to be nothing less than a shotgun. Both the boy and girl grinned at the men, who'd stopped in their tracks after seeing the weapon.
"Whoa there, sonny. Don't ya think tha's a bit dangerous ta be carryin' around?"
The boy shrugged, keeping his gun trained on them. A twinkle seemed to reflect out of his dark eyes as the man who'd devoted all of his attention to the woman let go of her head and clapped his hands to his own. His eyes took on a far away look as his face contorted with fear, as though he were seeing something the others couldn't. He stood up and pushed past his 'friends', not acknowledging their surprised looks or questions as he hurriedly rushed out of the alley and past the two teenagers, who grinned even more.
The man who'd confronted them raised one of his bushy eyebrows as the other disappeared down the street, glass cracking under his retreating feet.
"This is fun. What you are doing isn't fun, and it's not nice"
The girl said, grinning even more as the men who'd gathered around all began clutching their heads with the same far off look the first one had, all taking off down the street in various directions, none of whom acknowledged the others even existed as they left.
Once the alleyway was clear, the boy hefted the shogun back to it's previous position, resting against his chest. They both entered cautiously and approached the beat up woman, the girls smile vanishing.
"Those men weren't being very nice to you. Did you do something to them?"
She asked, although neither of them knew whether or not she was fit enough to answer. _________________ Baker of the radioactive three-eyed flying purple cookie eating brownies!
