Vampires (archaic spelling: vampyres) are mythological or folkloric creatures, typically held to be the re-animated corpses of human beings and said to subsist on human and/or animal blood (hematophagy). They are also the frequent subject of cinema and fiction, albeit fictional vampires have acquired a set of traits distinct from those of folkloric vampires (see Traits of vampires in fiction). In folklore, the term usually refers to the blood-sucking living of Eastern European legends, but it is often extended to cover similar legendary creatures in other regions and cultures. Vampire characteristics vary widely between different traditions. Some cultures have stories of non-human vampires, such as animals like bats, dogs, and spiders.
Vampirism is the practice of drinking blood from a person/animal. In folklore and popular culture, the term generally refers to a belief that one can gain supernatural powers by drinking human blood. The historical practice of vampirism can generally be considered a more specific and less commonly occurring form of cannibalism. The consumption of another's blood (and/or flesh) has been used as a tactic of psychological warfare intended to terrorize the enemy, and it can be used to reflect various spiritual beliefs.
In zoology and botany, the term vampirism is used to refer to leeches, mosquitos, mistletoe, vampire bats, and other organisms that prey upon the bodily fluids of other creatures. This term also applies to legendary animals of the same nature, including the chupacabra.
The term vampire can be used to refer to any magical creature of myth that is a predatory parasite, draining power, energy or life from unwilling victims. Mythic creatures who act in this manner are often considered part of the vampire archetype, even if they do not feast on blood
It is difficult to make a unified description of the folkloric vampire, because its properties vary widely between different cultures.
The appearance of the European folkloric vampire contained mostly features by which one was supposed to tell a vampiric corpse from a normal one, when the grave of a suspected vampire was opened. The vampire has a "healthy" appearance and ruddy skin, he is often plump, his nails and hair have grown and, above all, he/she is not in the least decomposed.
The most usual ways to destroy the vampire are driving a wooden stake through the heart, decapitation, and incinerating the body completely. Ways to prevent a suspected vampire from rising from the grave in the first place include burying it upside-down, severing the tendons at the knees, or placing poppy seeds on the ground at the gravesite of a presumed vampire in order to keep the vampire occupied all night counting. Chinese narratives about vampires also state that if a vampire comes across a sack of rice, s/he will have to count all of the grains. There are similar myths recorded on the Indian Subcontinent. South American tales of witches and other sorts of evil or mischievous spirits or beings have a similar aspect to it.
apotropaics, i.e. objects intended to inhibit or ward off vampires (as well as other evil supernatural creatures), include garlic (confined mostly to European legends),sunlight, a branch of wild rose, the hawthorn plant, and all things sacred (e.g., holy water, a crucifix, a rosary, a star of David) or an Aloe vera plant hung backwards behind the door or near it, in South American superstition. This weakness on the part of the vampire varies depending on the tale. In stories of other regions, other plants of holy or mystical properties sometimes have similar effects. In Eastern vampiric legends, vampires are often similarly warded by holy devices such as Shintō seals.
Vampires are sometimes considered to be shape-shifters not limited to the common bat stereotype put out by cartoons and movies. Rather, a multitude of animals are available such as wolves and spiders, and many more.
Vampires in European folklore are said to cast no shadow and have no reflection. This may be tied to folklore regarding the vampire's lack of a soul.
Some traditions hold that a vampire cannot enter a house unless he or she is invited in.
They cannot enter a church or holy place. They are servants of the devil.
All of this taken and owned by the Wikipedia article on "Vampire"
Vampire Lord:
The first vampire of the north, was improperly buried in the snow. No one has ever seen exactly what he looks like, how strong he is, or who he was in life. His image is marked on all the armor of the lords and knights in the Vampire Feudal system. The Lord has control over all the vampire in his domain, and if he is destroyed all the vampires "born" under him die again.
^
|
Vampire Noble:
Though they don't sound it, Vampire Nobles are stout fighters. Most Nobles serve directly under the Vampire Lord. They wear great, heavy armor, and weild giant weapons, be it spears, axes, or swords. Typically Nobles stay with the Lord, but can be sent out to lead armies, massive cattle drives, and assasinations as decreed by the Lord. They are best identified by their large weapons, big, thick armor, and the Vampire Lord's insignia on their armor pectoral.
^
|
Vampire Knights:
The Vampires that act as the police force of the Vampire Rageim. They lead average cattle drives, and serve as the military. They wear full sets of armor, includeing helmits. They use sheilds where as Nobles don't, so their weapons arn't as heavy or powerful. There are many more Knights than Nobles, so they are more likely to attack when a small cattle drive goes awry. Wear the Lords insignia on their shields.
^
|
Vampire Serfs:
Server under Knights. They perform almost all the lowly tasks that the Knights don't want to. They only wear partial armor, and almost exclusivly have swords, and bucklers, and always have helmits. A group of about 5 usually go out with small cattle drives, and they server as cannon fodder in the military. They are almost new to life as a vampire as peasents and don't fight to their full potential. They wear the Lords insignia on their helmits.
^
|
Vampire Peasents:
Almost the lowest of the low. These are the ones that run the economy of the Vampire Rageim, they are the everyday vampires. They almost never have armor, or weapons. They almost never leave the cities of the North.
^
|
"Cattle"/Slaves:
Humans, these are the food for vampires. They are weak and mal-nourished, but in nubers they have been known to rebel in great nubers, but almost to no prevail. |

A post in my RP brought up a good point
Races (thus far) immune to vampire:
Were creatures: Wear creatures already contain the ability of being able to shape change, and have their own morphic system, as they are stronger than a normal creature, and their blood is already affected with on disease, they are immune to vampirism.
Poly-morphic creatures: Much like Were creatures, because they already have an effected blood, (going from mammilian, to insect, to reptile, or single celled creatures, all of which do not use the same kind of blood) thus they are immune to vampirisim.
Creatures without iron based blood, because vampires are unlikely to want to drink from them.
Angels (fallen or normal): Angels are holy beings, and because so, a vampire is unable to even near them.
Titans: Hey, it was in the job description.
Gods: If you thought Angels were holy, try gods, be they good or evil, they are still incredibly holy beings.
Demi-gods: Once more, holier than angles, but less holy than gods.
All other races, mostly human, demi-human, or animal can be infected.
If you have a good reason why a particular species or race should be on the immune list, gimme a holler, I'll come and fix it...

Some of this theory and fable is what people have known for an age. But vampirism is supposed to know few limits. For each of the immune sssspecies, would you please identify as to why they would remain unaffected.
You do not have to be immortal to be a God or an Angel of any kind. And as such, even those who are immortal can be tricked and decieved, controlled and puppetered.
Vampires, and their associated bretheren, if they are able to be polymorphic, why would vampirism there-in not affect poly-morphic beings. Since they are still organic in nature, they have a mind that can be manipulated, a body that can be affected do they not?
We do not base ourselves of an infection of the blood, but of the body, the mind and the soul. Yet all we need is possession of the body or the mind in order to bring others into our fold. We are of a higher breed than normal vampires, whom we consider the lesser descendants of ourselves, and therefore a simple bite does not turn another. A whole different processis required and is as just effectful.
Again, we ask that you provide validated reasons as to why you deem those you have listed as not being able to be affected. This is a free-form role-play website, and therefore people must be able to explain themselves as to why they would not be affected in the first place. This obviously would most likely take place in an OOC comment or a PM to the person in questioning, or the person questioningas the case most likely would be.
Noi await al tău reply cu deget mic mai mult decît un patimă suflare. _________________ I am everthing that you fear. I am everything your mind rejects. Evil is nothing to me. I am the darkness that envelopes you, and I will feast upon your mind, body and soul.
You will fear me, and you will hate me. I will not care. When you see that bat fly past you, when you hear that wolf howl, remember it - it may be the last thing you hear. |

If I may say so:
In the case of the Vampiric North roleplay, seeing as GenericMan is it's founder, I believe he is given the right to choose who is immune and who is not. In the context of that specific roleplay, anyway. This is further supported by vampiric lore being quite variable. If you don't like what his 'rules' say about vampires and their limits, there is nothing stopping you from making your own RP. As long as his 'rules' are not unreasonable, I see nothing wrong with it.
That is all. Thank you. |

On the same theme ad End, (this is my personal opinion now) vulnerability to infection should be a matter of agreement between the biter and the one being biten's owners,
for example, my character was an Angel, but the Noble vampire Seph still converted her despite because I thought it would be interesting. that was a special case however, a joint RP between just the two of us. In a more general sense, the same rules as usual should apply, the creater of the RP makes the final decision.
