I would like to make a small suggestion, so that those of us that are both new, and those of us that would like to know can follow roleplays much more easily.
I would like to suggest as the title reads, a timeline of events. This may allow for accurate character development, and allow us to keep track of roleplays.
If I could get some feedback on my suggestion, I would be most appreciative. _________________ Is there a supreme being? I can't answer that question for you. You can only have faith in what you believe. And I believe in a supreme being. |

Father Mac, this is a marvellous idea. It'd also be when setting up new RPs to be able to refer back to previous events and such.
Of course, this will lead to people having to decide whether their RPs are Cannon or Off Cannon (Directly relational to the progress of Blackstar or not). Corporate Development for instance would be Cannon, whereas things such as The Inconvenience Store or The Wild West, would be Off Cannon as the usual roles of Dojo members are completely forgotten. Only Cannon RPs would go onto the timeline. _________________ I like big cookies and I cannot lie,

You would have to take into account RP's from the past, such as the Chicken Wars, "The House" one I stored in the Archives, Forum Wars A,B,C, and D, GW v EC, etc.
And also consider possible alternate timelines, such as the one resultant from the otherwised failed Fire RP.
Alot of work to hash out. _________________

The problem with some of those is that nobody's seen them. I should really put up some fat bounty (like 100,000 or something) for the Fire RP just to see if I can get someone to fork it over, since I've yet to ever see this history-making thread... However, I suppose were one to make a thread that continued from those timelines you could spend a paragraph or two explaining what was going on. _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...

Yeah... I'd like to see the Fire RP thread sometime again before old age takes me.
A timeline would be an awesome idea, though. We do need to keep track of things to tell who did what when (An Offical History of the Dojo).
A few problems, though: what about multiple timelines? The Labyrinth RP and Corporate Development both play a significant role in the Dojo's history, but they're both ongoing at the same time (or will be, once I revive Corp. Dev. Ver. 1). Wouldn't that kind of ruin the ending if you know that, say, my herbalist Darangol survives the lethal dose of venom in Labyrinth to save the day in Corporate Dev? Or worse, create a tepmoral paradox, making the Dojo like a bad episode of a Star Trek rerun? It'd take a bit of planning to help work the kinks out.
Still, I'm all for it. I'd love to egosurf UncleAsriel under a history archive, and see how my secret scheme to take over the Creatures Series games has progressed over the years _________________ "The tragedy of Canada is that it could have had British culture, French cuisine and American technology. I would like to see the Why Is the Grove On Fire RP, alongside Why Is the Grass Waving Like That. I would also like to see the day when I may manifest myself in my purest form. Unfortunately I am still waiting. Do not raise your hopes, for they may yet fall.
Such an idea of a timeline is noble, but absurd. Who would be the manager of this great scheme? Who would decide what should happen when, or deal with roleplays that happen with simultaniety? Who will curate this massive, living document of the history of all powerplays past present and future?
This will require much more work that it will be worth. After all, how often are civil libraries' city archives turned over. Once in a blue moon, of course. Once in a blue moon. _________________ If I were I as wise, as many have said

I understand why one would want a timeline, for example if one is developing a character and its abilities/skills/items/. Also, it serves to solve some problems, like I currently hold the DHOTD relic. I think I'm going to have to give it up to save the world in "Labyrinth", but then I would still be using it in Corp Dev. 2, and say Net steals it there and the Sensei retains it from Labyrinth. now we have two of the same relics floating around. However, to formalize this Timeline would be extremely difficult and would take away a certain degree of flexibility. Also, as has been pointed out, it really doesn't matter when snowball fight takes place.
Building on the "cannon" idea though, perhaps some set of RPs could be sequential and only those, and maybe certain sets of characters and items would be restricted to these posts? _________________ Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
