Ok, I think having something standardized that we can post after the entire tournement is over would be nice, just so people know what their flaws were. This was inspired off of Al's design, but I can't remember it exactly. We score each post on these items, then average the result for an over all score for each item. Then the scores are tallied and compared to come up with a winner.
Player A:
Grammer (10)
Spelling (10)
Readabiltiy (20)
Style (20)
Powerplay (20)
Ingenuity (20)
Player B:
Grammer (10)
Spelling (10)
Readabiltiy (20)
Style (20)
Powerplay (20)
Ingenuity (20)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grammer: 10 points possible.
Does the RP'er use proper puntuation, spacing, and paragraphs.
Spelling: 10 Points possible.
Does the RP'er spell correctly, and use the right form of the word whenever applicable?
Readability: 20 Points possible.
Does the RP'er write in such a way that it's easy to understand what he is saying.
Style: 20 Points possible.
How artistic is the RP'ers style? Does it take you into the world, allowing you to clearly see what he is doing in a way that is enjoyable?
Powerplay: 20 points possible.
4 point deduction for every powerplay offense, as the judge see it.
Ingenuity: 20 points possible.
Does the character use his enviroment in inventive ways to attack the opponent or defend himself?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, what do you think of the idea? Any additional categories needed, or is the point spread off? _________________

The point spread seems off-almost half of the judging points go to proper spelling, so a typo is more likely to decide the winner than a good move. I still have the basic judge format from before if you want (my judgment is still in notepad on the compy). Basically it was 1 to 10 in each category, except for powerplay which was -1 to -10.
Categories: Believability, Powerplay, Inventiveness, Personality/Flair, Cleverness, Grammer/Spelling
A judge could also award a few extra points to a competetor if that competetor did something the judge really likes but didn't necessarily fall into a category (say, a player that made the next quote of the month!). _________________ If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

Kat, if you could post that sheet, it would be greatly appreciated.
I was kinda hesitant about the point spread, hence why I posted it in advance to get the other judges opinion. _________________

"The winner is the person who displays the best roleplaying skills in the fight. Both contestants will be judged on the believability of their posts, to what extent do they powerplay, their inventiveness, their personality/flair, their cleverness as well as the Judge's personal opinion (anything that stands out but is not included in the listed criteria)."
I could be wrong of course- for my final judgement to be in the first post, I'd have to be able to find an Edit button... All criteria are graded from 1-10, with 1 being horrible and 10 being "best". On powerplay, a -10 make you one of the worst powerplayers around. The smaller the mistake, the smaller the smaller the negative.
Spook:
Believability: 10/10 : Thoughtless of you, releasing that black hole! Every warrior improvises, and you never know what the results will be. Out of your actions, I considered that one the final point here.
Powerplay: Could a gun with all the strongest powers of the universe be a little over the top here? That description forces me to wonder whether you'd force your way past the enchantments on the arena or in the heat. On the positive, I'm glad you submitted to being hurt, no matter the circumstances. It helped resolve the question a bit. : -2/-10
Inventiveness: 9/10 :Pretty conventional as far as fighting goes, but you were very inventive as far as fighting style goes.
Personality/Flair: 8/10 : Not the most flair, but that's you. It was good that you were nervous in the beginning-that and wanting to leave at the end were the most obvious displays of personality.
Cleverness: 9/10 :You managed a good ending. The black hole might not have been the smartest idea though...
Extra: Spook, you get a bonus point for reminding everyone just who your character was in the beginning. In small communities we may memorise each other's quirks, but someone new would have trouble understanding some parts of the RP if they didn't know about the character. Smart move.
Shee mon:
Believablity: 6/10 : I had trouble believing you could fight so well in the beginning when you didn't know who you were fighting. Other than that good.
Powerplay: -.5/-10 : You could have failed miserably here with your trip from an island that you can't leave, but since you traveled to different realities within the island area, you pulled this off well. I also appreciated you remembering the magic restriction. Good job.
Inventiveness: 11/10! : This is where you went over the top! Not only did you manage to leave the arena without fighting the restriction on the ring, you stopped the entire fight in it's tracks! Very inventive.
Personality/Flair: 10/10 : Quite insulting aren't you? Nice competitiveness, and it was a bold move to stop the heat so you two could fix a minor problem.
Cleverness: 10/10 :Nice loophole on the reality move. |
I believe we had grammer/writing as a subcategory, but you seem to want a lot of credit to go there so there's no problem of making it a seperate category. _________________ If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

So we're using Kat's sheet for the judging instead of DP's? _________________ "The tragedy of Canada is that it could have had British culture, French cuisine and American technology. Instead it got American culture, British cuisine and French technology." ~ Oscar Wilde [Source:Uncyclopedia.org] |
