[Species] Morgril

Type: Sentient quadrupedal reptiles.

Place of Origin: The planet Kjurrh Nufug, meaning "pretty jewel" in their language.

Natural Abilities: Bladed forelimbs and heat vision with their smaller pair of eyes.

Diseases prone to: Many of the same ones as humans, like the common cold and strep throat, and two diseases native to Kjurrh Nufug, Krasnikt and Urganx. Krasnikt is an infection of the esophagus (food pipe) which makes swallowing solid foods dangerous due to a weakened esophagus wall.. Since Morgril cannot chew with thier toothless turtle-like beaks, this is a big problem. Before the cure was found, many Morgril died of starvation from it. Urganx is a disease of the heart, in which it pumps far more slowly than usual, but not slowly enough to kill. Moving too much will cause problems, so the afflicted usually stay in bed.

Technological Status: To the point of colonizing other worlds. Thus far they have colonies on four planets and have established trade with six other races.

Unique Attributes: Morgril cannot grasp with their forelimbs, as they are mantislike, so they use another limb: their tails. The tail of a Morgril splits into two grasping parts near the end. They are so prehensile, they can pick up an egg and not even crack it.

Diet: Morgril are omnivorous, but prefer fruit. Their beaks are used to cut through the very hard skin of many of the fruits on their homeworld.

Description: Morgril are long-necked saurians with mantislike bladed claws on their forelimbs, two toes on thier rear limbs, and long tails that curve up over their backs. Females are dark green, and males are light green with teal horns. Females do not have horns. The front end of the beak is very hard, hard enough to crush bone. The rest of the beak is just flesh. The neck is very flexible, and can twist in a complete circle. They are very parental and the young stay with the parents about the same length of time as a human.

The Morgril language has been recently developed after first contact with off-worlders. Before that, they got by with basic noises, like hisses and roars. After they were presented with the English alphabet, they created their own language by switching the letters around.
