Embri's Refuge

[Embri]

Embri gazed around cautiously, daintily sniffing the air for the scent of any intruder. Sensing none, she landed, folding her creamy wings tightly against her sides. This glade, beautiful as it was, still gave her the creeps.
Nosing the dense foliage aside, Embri trotted deeper into the forest.

Two days ago....
Embri dropped, exhausted. Scenery wavered and shifted in front of her eyes, blurring in and out. Mentally cursing her own limitations, the fire unicorn tried to stand without weaving back and forth like a reed, searching for Myste. There. Laying a few feet away, the serpentine cat was still, curled up on her side. With a start, Embri snapped up her head in full alert.
This was most definitely NOT her grove!
Wildly searching for danger, Embri swung her head back and forth, snorting and pawing the ground. This had never happened before! When she had teleported away from the battle with Myste, Embri had intended to return to her own santuary, deep in the heart of Titan's Forge. Instead, she found herself here.... wherever here was. Not seeing anything overtly dangerous, Embri returned her attention to her wounded ally. Myste stirred, mewing pitifully. Red Angel's swords had caused the Water Elemental many deep wounds - had Myste not been a creature of water, dulling the effectiveness of the fire demon's strikes, the feline would most likely be dead by this point.

Wasting no futher time, Embri bent over to touch her horn against Myste's wounds. A faint silver light swirled around the crystal horn, closing each wound it touched. Finally done, Embri folded up her legs and collapsed onto the ground. She knew there would be no more combat for her this day. Myste chirruped and rubbed her head against her mistresses face. "Guard." Embri commanded, before closing her eyes and falling into a dreamless sleep.

Embri finally emerged into a tiny clearing in this remote corner of this wild land. She made a strange noise, half whinny, half whistle. A ripple on the pond in front of her announced Myste's acknowledgment. A scaled, feline head broke the surface of the calm pond, soon followed by the rest of Myste.

"And how are you today, little one?" Embri enquired.
"Sooorrrre" Myste replied, dipping down her head and extending a paw.
"Still?" Embi asked, surprised. "Let me see." She examined Myste's pawpads, which were full of urchin spikes. Again.
"I told you not to try eating the creatures at the bottom of the pond, Myste." Embri scolded. "They are well defended, and probably don't taste good anyway."
"Noo fissssshhhee" Myste whined, trying to look pitiful.
"You can survive without fish, and we both know it." Embri was firm.
"Mrrruownrrr - MEH!" Myste scowled as Embri pulled out the spikes kinetically.
"Look, I'm going to check this place out, all right? Just stay put a little longer, and I'll see if I can't find a good place for us all." Embri sighs.
"Whhhith fissshhhee?"
"Yes, with fish."

Myste, sastified for the moment, dives back into the pool. Embri looks around, still slightly on edge. Time to find out where "here" is. Embri thought. After carefully making her way clear of the trees, the flaming unicorn leaps for the sky, ready to discover what this strange new world has in store for her.

As Embri climbed higher over the Evergreen Glades, she caught sight of a strange swirling mass of mist ahead of her.

And almost as suddenly as it appeared, it spoke to her.

"I see you have found a way to my Dojo, Fire Unicorn. I do hope you find this spot restfull. And if you travel a bit to the north, you should find a pond full of fish for your friend"

Then, and rather suddenly, the mist left, enveloping into itself until it was gone, leaving a paper floating down in the air, bearing the words "The Dark Psycho Bids all Dojo Staff to welcome Embri, the Fire Unicorn, into the Fold of the Dojo"

This of course bothered her. Both the strange being that spoke, and the way it knew of her friend, Myste.

Embri shivered, despite being quite warm. Still, the red mist had not seemed hostile, and she had recieved far worse welcomes in her many travels. Setting her sights northwards, Embri winged towards the Wilds.

((Embri first landed on the southern tip of the Frontier, where it meets the Evergreen Glades, in case you were wondering.))

With her acute eyes, she scans the land below, seeking a place suitable for herself and her friends.
