Well, here's my attempt at doing Ruster:

I hope you like it, and apologies for not finishing this for your birthday.

There have been some ... incidents ... recently, which have led me to initiate a change in gifting practices. I am unfortunately not going to be continuing to create birthday presents from now on, due to recent events which involved cheating to take advantage of my generosity. Thusly, I will be reevaluating my methods, and will probably be either creating avatars in chronological order by join date, or simply desisting all together.

I am sorry that the actions of individuals resulted in spoiling this for everyone, but until I can devise a better method, all avatar gifts are on hold. Commissioned work will continue as normal.

This avatar was already in progress at the time, so I felt it unacceptable to not finish it. Crying or Very sad

I'm sorry, everyone. I know many of you were looking forward to getting presents. I'll try to sort out this mess as soon as possible.

Enjoy the most useful gift anybody could ever give you... illegal fireworks! I eve took off all those annoying 'aim away from face' tags, so now you can do what you like with them. Very Happy

Hope you had a great day and got lots of cool stuff.

And try not to worry so much about us Embri - whilst we might be a little disappointed at the prospect of not getting an avatar gift for our b'days, it's nothing for you to get upset over. It's a gift, so getting it would be a bonus, but we can't just expect to get it. Smile

The relevant PM's have been forwarded to The Sensei for postage in the Hall of Shame, but there's no reason for me not to post the details here, as well.

I can understand lying about your birthday for privacy, but this was not the case. I certainly don't care if you post an accurate birthday, or even if you don't post the year, but this particular incident had a single goal - to get a free avatar out of me as quickly as possible.

About a week ago, I received a PM from Mag through the EC website, requesting that I do an avatar for him, basically au gratis. I replied that if he wanted an avatar, my services were available for purchase in my Store, or he could wait for his birthday to come around, and thought nothing more of it. Three days ago, Mag's name popped up on the "Birthday's in seven days" list. Now, that wouldn't be unususal, except for the fact that I know his birthday was NOT originally listed as being in July.

The other fact was Mag's new "birthday" was listed as July 10th, and only appeared on the "birthdays in the next week" list on July 6th - an impossibility, since it should have shown up on July 3rd, one week before. I confronted Mag about this, and he admitted to cheating.

The chain of PM's have been forwarded to our Admin, and this is the reason I am going to have to change my gifting practices. Sad

I don't plan on stopping doing free work, Goron, it's just going to be scheduled a little differently. I'm thinking of several possibilities, at the moment.

1. Lottery style. Bascially random, though anyone who's already gotten a present doesn't get a second one.

2. By join date. A rundown of the memberlist, from oldest member to youngest.

3. A combination. A random choice from all accounts over a certain age who have not been recipients of a gift yet.

I also have several conditions, of which people may or may not be aware:

Alternate accounts are not eligible for presents. The Sensei knows who you are!

You must have posted a character description in the Hall of Records which includes a reasonably detailed physical description. It does not have to be a novel, but I need a general idea of what you look like!

Inactive members are not eligible for presents. This means accounts with almost no posts and who are also inactive on Gameware and the EC.

Basically, I must know you from SOMEWHERE in order to qualify! InsaneIntelligence is a good example. He or she has only one post, and I do not know them from any other forum, so they are not eligible in my eyes for a gift. No random strangers off the street! Rolling Eyes
