The Direction of the Dojo

I am aware how many countless posts there have been of this nature. However, I want currently held views by as many active members as possible. I don't want to act on dated opinions that may have drastically changed since they were written about.

What features of the Dojo do you want to see changed, removed, fixed, or maybe even added altogether? Let's try to keep this reasonable. While I'm sure a fancy game arcade or a slot machine might be wonderful additions, how many of the extra features are you using right now? I doubt anyone's gone to the forum Bookmakers recently.

Even if you're sick of restating the same thing over and over again, please say what you think would be a good idea for immediate changes here. I'm not exactly comfortable with the idea of, as I said earlier, axing sections it turns out other people wanted.

I'll be backing up the things I can possibly back up before I make any drastic changes in the event anything goes wrong.

The primary concerns I have at the moment are related to the overly-complex and currently borked belt/style system, the superfluous amount of subforums and the crowded top-of-page navigation. Any other topics to be raised and discussed are welcomed with open arms.

The Norn Gardens are nice to have around, but no body goes there. Even before the decline, nobody went there.

The Olympic Complex, too, has stood silent for a long time, along with many others. It's time we laid them out to rest.

Don't mean to sound naggy or anything, but I would love to hear from as many people as possible before I start potentially tearing the board into more manageable shreds for the size of its active userbase. >_>

Well in any case I think some boards should be open to the public and put into an archive state or something. Not for me, I still have my orb (Although it is now otdated as hell) but I would rather not have everything deleted.

I think that that came up in the last discussim about this sort of thing DLM and I'll point out to you what was pointed out to me.
Mainly that those particular boards belonged to someone/were asked for by them, for a particular reason.
For example the Guardians area, and it wouldn't really be fair on them to just delete those forums, and (in my mind at least) would be Even Worse to make them public. That would be a betrayal of trust. By all means, those areas should be hidden to prevent cluttering up the boards, and should they ever start back up again newcomers will find some unexpected history. However, we should attempt to contact those people before even considering such things as showing them to the public or deleting them, to see how they feel.
As for my opinion on this though, the only thing that really concerns me is the Olympic Area. It's a nice bit of our history and should definitely be archived. That way the boards daunting size would be something of two thirds what it is now. Failing that though, it should at least be hidden until it can be archived.
And, although I do agree with SFOT on the Norn Gardens section, I'd ask that certain RPs on there be archived too. I have certain sentimental attachments to them.
I'd do it, but I wouldn't know the first thing about archiving a forum (which I should probably look into really, considering I happen to be an admin of a co-founded one and there's going to be major overhaulage of said forum soon) if someone could, or if someone could direct me to somewhere I could learn this skill, I'd be much appreciative.
