It had been quiet in the Dojo for quiet a while. No one had tried to invade, conquer, usurp, or otherwise take over Blackstar in a few months.

This left DP in quiet a funk. He no longer had his duties as either diety or monarch to preoccupy his time. All he had was training new students at the Dojo. But with a lack of real-live battle to help train his students, they had began to become restless and bored with their regular training.

This wouldn't do. DP couldn't blame them, he too was suffering from the very human emotion of boredom. This simply wouldn't do at all.

So, as students woke up the next morning, they found the following on the notice boards throughout the school.

Quote:

To All Interested Students.

A special survival training camping trip has been scheduled to start next week and run several weeks. Training will be given in survival in several enviroments, including defense and hunting against local flora and fauna. Please sign up outside Sensei Dau'Pay's office if you are interested.

((We'll begin our trip in a few days after I see who is interested. I'm hoping Mrs. Doyle will also join us for the trip. I've got a few surprises planned...as I'm sure several participants will))

Arthur considered himself to be a full time student of life, always he sought to further his understanding of the world around him, whichever world that may be. Reading the notice to himself he concluded that such an excursion may be just what he had been looking for. "Certainly my old bones could use a stretch", he muttered to himself whilst adding his name to the top of the form in a neat, yet elegant hand.

That done he paused to consider, "Dear me, I hope it won't be too cold, I shall need to bring some extra clothing, just in case."

With that he hurried off, his walking stick aiding progress across uneven ground.

Kyril Kov'ag Zerrer was walking by when he noticed one of the fliers.
"Maybe this will be interesting." He murmured to himself.
He walked briskly to DP's office and signed up right under Arthur McCorth's name.

Then walked back to his room and changed from his jeans and t-shirt to a peculiar set of light flanged armor, which was colored dark green. Then he grabbed several Katars and put them into sheathes near his waist. All of them seem to have vanished. Then he tied a Meteor hammer around his waist. This weapon consisted of a heavy ball with a long steel cable attached to it. With momentum, Kyril reasoned to himself, it could probably take out most of the Dojo's weaker denizens without much hassle. He also hid several throwing knives on his person, and a Nagimaki on his back. Long Japanese daggers sat on his left hip, while a battle scythe sat on his right. Shuriken went up his sleeves. A bladed whip went in a bandolier stretching from his waist to his shoulder. All of these things were hidden, somewhat, with the exclusion of the Nagamaki and the Meteor hammer, although most wouldn't know that the latter was a weapon.

~The weight shouldn't bother me~ He reasoned to himself. ~These are all light weapons, and I am wearing a lighter armor then normal~ His armor was made of Mithril cables and ceramic plates weaved together, with a thin leather covering.

He stood up, stretched, and pulled his blond hair into a ponytail. He had many weapons, and he was proficient in all of them.

((Here's his official character sheet. Kyril))

Hanging upside down from the roof of the Sensei's office was a heavy snow coat. It seemed to be staring at the sign up sheet, which was something winter coats didn't usually do, but because this was Blackstar, mostly everyone let it slide.

After Arther had left, but before Kyril arrived, the coat moved in the slightest way. Now, right side up, the coat slid down the rope, seemingly burnt the words "A. Nobody" at the bottom of the list, and then blew up the rope and away, leaving no trace.

Laur was next in this line of people and apparent apparitions, the mutant clad in unassuming red t-shirt coupled with customary black trousers had been strolling down the hallway of the Training Dojo when the piece of paper tacked up on the wall caught her sharp eyes. Bright blue ones turned to regard the paper as her head and body followed suit, the 5'5 ft tall, dark brown haired woman wondered briefly what 'A Nobody' was and why it had felt the need to burn it's name on the paper.

Laur had been meaning to do something very similar, but what was suggested by Dau'Pay appeared more rounded. It would undoubtedly be beneficial, so after a few more seconds of blazing blue deliberation Laur added her name to the list. Her own handwriting was unique, in a type that was easy for anyone to read, yet orderly.

The mutant then continued her stroll down the corridors of the Training Dojo, noticeably relieved to have something else to think about.

Kazumaru, wearing black horn-rimmed glasses and a tuxedo, strode through the Training Dojo. In his hands, he held a guitar, with a katana in its sheath taped to the back. He stopped abruptly in front of a notice board.

"Survival training camp?" He wondered, scratching at his head, which felt quite odd without his top hat. "Sounds like Battle Royale."

After a few minutes of searching, he found the signup sheet. Beneath some overly fancy handwriting from a "Laur Doyle," he scratched in "Jim Kata." Then, beneath that, he scratched in "Kazumaru."

With a satisfied smirk on his face, he walked away from the signup sheet, readjusting his glasses repeatedly.

*DP went out to count the names*

1..2..3..4..5...What? Only five people! We'll need more if we are going to go!

*DP goes back into his office to await more people to sign up*

"Only five volunteers? Hah!"

The predator mused over the apparent lack of interest in something as deadly-sounding as "survival training". With a shrug he added his name in Yaut'Jian and, for a bit of a personal touch, signed it by intensifying his mask laser sight and burning their triangular configuration into the paper. He had survived many centuries without too much trouble, went above and beyond his wildest expectations actually, so it's not as if he thought he needed any pointers. Rather, given the Dojo's recent bout of desertedness, he figured it would at least give him something to do, and by the sounds of it, something to kill as well.

The Predator then proceeded to climb a nearby tree and get comfortable on a lower branch. He kept an eye on the signup sheet to see who else he'd have to deal with, and began absently cleaning pieces of his equipment, out of lack of anything better to do.

Life was kind of a blur the last few days. Or weeks. Or months, possibly. 501 wanders along groggily, reaching out to anything upright to keep him steady.

The last thing he can clearly remember was running for his life from an imploding Station Zero, back when the possibility of the world ending was actually fairly high. Things were kind of unclear after that point, and he'd found himself apparently waking up all over the place since.

Perhaps the destruction of Station Zero caused energy fluctuations which in turn caused power surges in his systems. Perhaps he was going crazy. Perhaps he was just imagining the whole thing and less than an hour had passed. But whatever it was, although it had stopped, he felt incredibly disorientated by it all.

He stumbles into the Training Dojo, not exactly sure where he is, and rests against a wall. A notice board catches his interest.

"Hmmm... survival training... defense, hunting, flora, fauna... office. Eh, it'd be difficult and wait who am I talking to?"

A passing student gives him a slight glance before carrying on their way. 501 glances about, and spies the sign-up sheet just slightly down a corridor. "...Oh what the five, why not? What's the worst thing that could possibly happen? ...I shouldn't have said that but I'm signing up anyway. And, er, still talking to myself." He wanders over to the sheet and scrawls "CAM-501" on the piece of paper in a barely legible manner.

He takes a step back to see if he recognises any of the other names. "Oh, hey, lab guy's doing this too! I haven't spoken to him in... uhh... argh, my head. A while, anyway. Wait. A Nobody? ...is that burnt in? Uhh... well, I signed up now. Should have maybe thought this through some more."

He strolls off down the corridor, lurching and stumbling into a wall here and there. Why won't the world stop spinning just for a few seconds? This is starting to get irritating...

Unlike the rest of them; this norn decided to arrive in style. Distorting the spatial structure of a nearby boulder into various spikes and edges. It regurgitated a green warp portal from its demon-like maw. "Scratch that out, replace that. Note to self: buy more chicken eggs for laboratory defense mechanism."

Garbed in what looks to be a set mundane of clothes: Thin, short sleeved shirt; compared to a denser format of jeans just reaching the heel. Both of which are dyed dark blue. Boring leather shoes protected his feet from the glass shrapnel that now littered across the stone's lower mandible. His black pen darting back and forth over the constantly flipping papers. While the norn unaware of its cap preventing any marks.

"Now then." Tossing his papers behind him carelessly. The warp portal inhaled his documents, glass shards, and stone from its focal point. Transporting the matter to his laboratory. To his disappointment, he found out the pen didn't ink. "I. Hate. You." Uncapping the pen, he scribbles just "Trace" for his name. Incapable of recalling his middle or surname.

Trace flicking a finger against the left-arm suited armlet. To his annoyance, a poorly attached computer chip plummeted to the floor. The device catapulted a single carrot in the air for capture by his mouth. ~Oh no.~ Barely dodging 501 when he desperately sprinted outside; so he wouldn't be persecuted for a carrot slush mess. Trace aimed his armlet towards a steep tunnel. A stream of carrot pulp vehemently descended down, bringing forth cries of carotene intolerant moles trying to escape the toxic pool of juice. Only to be silenced by the dirt walls caving in to form a smaller ditch.

His eyes not noticing the chaos, as he slumped against the Training Dojo wall. Munching away at his last carrot while enjoying the sunlight. It being the first good thing to occur today.

((Now as long RL doesn't disrupt me, I'll try my best to continue my posts.))

Danikat arrived in her usual fasion - popping into the air on Alzaranth a short distance above the training Dojo. "I am going for a swim, the water here is much warmer than at home." The dragon informed her as they circled in to land. "Good idea, maybe I'll join you later but there's something I need to deal with first." Danikat replied, sliding off her dragons back just outside the Dojo door.

She took no real notice of Trace resting against the wall outside. She was familiar with norns and this one looked to be enjoying his carrot too much to appreciate being disturbed. Instead she headed inside and looked around, slightly suspiciously. Unlike most the Training Dojo's visistors she had not come for training, she was here because she'd heard that in her unplanned absence DP had had the audacity to install an office in her dojo. Now, admittedly it was in his world, and the building itself was not strictly hers, but that wasn't the point. DP may well be human now (although privately she had her doubts) but he had also been human when he had been a member, and later headmaster of the evil council, not to mention one of her most dangerous enemies. As a result she was highly suspicious of any action that looked like an attempt to take over what little of Blackstar he didn't already own in some way or other. Their days of trying to kill each other might be behind them (for now) but she felt some strong words were definately in order.

Her attention was distracted when she noticed that he'd also gone and put up some kind of signs everywhere. She read it quickly at first, and then again, paying more attention. "Survival training huh? That could be...interesting."
"It would also be a very effective way for you to keep an eye on DP and find out how sincere he is about training the students." Arian pointed out.
"Good idea. And it appears I have to go to this office of his to sign up anyway."

She did just that. Scribbling her name down just below Trace. She briefly considered adding a surname but since she was fairly sure no one in the Dojo knew what it was anyway it didn't seem to matter. Then she knocked on the door, no reason to be rude just because you're angry.

What looked like a young woman made her way out of the treeline surrounding the Training Dojo, although this particular woman was almost as listless as 501. She was about 5'2, with a short, slim build and was dressed in the usual silver coloured clothing. Her hair was light brown and tinted silver. Tala held one hand over her light brown, yellow tinted eyes in order to keep out the sunlight. The werewolf had-stupidly, now, she realised-decided to try and find out why Syllak loved the home-made alcohol she called "Dragonsfire" so much. She'd done this by trying some last night, and she was still none the wiser. Her head swam, and when that happens to someone who has a naturally high healing rate you know whatever it was was extremely bad.

'Where on Blackstar am I?' Tala thought, peering around blearily. Being a werewolf she could normally smell or hear things and figure out where she was, but being a drunk werewolf meant that she didn't want to right now 'I don't think I'll be doing that again... I wonder what that building is over there, looks vaguely familiar'

Tala moved over to it, squinting at it and still not recognising it Maybe Syllak likes this stuff so much because it's this strong...Maybe I'll meet someone inside and they can tell me where I am. The werewolf in human form pushed open the door, she didn't have to stagger too far before someone or something that seemed worse than she felt nearly crushed her against one of the walls. The adrenaline rush caused by hurriedly getting out of the way helped her to see better at least.

After a few more minutes of wandering and less close calls with robots, Tala found the sign up sheet quite by accident. 'Survival training?' Tala thought 'I must be in the Training Dojo. Maybe I should sign up, I'm almost certain nothing could be worse than this. Although there was that time I got skewered by a tree... . Tala scribbled her name on the sheet, before she realised she'd probably left Syllak out there by her wandering. Sallah would definitely be annoyed with them too. Tala hurried back out, as fast as she could without her head pulsing that is.

"Enter Danikat" a voice said from the other side of the door.

No waiting for her to respond, the hydraulics in the door responded to DP's voice an opened the door for Danikat!

((Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this. For once real life really did get in my way, in the form of Christmas in all it's glory and horror.))

"Fancy." Danikat muttered to herself as she watched the door open itself. Then she drew her attention back to the matter at hand and DP. "I suspect you already know why I'm here so I'll get to the point - why wasn't I told you'd decided to take over training the students? If you remember that was supposed to be my job."

((I hope it's alright if I use this thread to test out a new character, given that most of my other characters are currently tied up in another RP thread, and for the sake of my own sanity I'd rather not confuse things by having them in multiple threads at the same time.))

A rather meek and unimpressive individual quietly approached the noticeboard, hoping to go unnoticed by the others. He was new to the Blackstar Dojo, and as such the multitude of strange creatures here made him very uneasy. He'd heard that this 'DP' would help him grow accustomed to the bizarre realm quickly... Well, to be more accurate, he'd heard that he should request to become a student of DP, but this seemed like a much less direct and thus less intimidating method of learning from the mysterious enigma.Hesitating for only a moment, he scrawled his name where it was required: 'Face' MacKenzie.

'Face' appeared to be a young-ish human, his clothes were not really notable (long, somewhat-tattered slacks and a shirt, with a tie half-heartedly dangling around his neck), his posture was somewhat slouched and his physical build left something to be desired. There were two odd things about him though, the first being that he was only wearing one shoe (he looked somewhat ragged, so he was either too poor to afford the second or he'd lost it somewhere) and the second being that he had no facial features. His eyes, nose and mouth were nowhere to be seen, and nothing was there in their place. He still had hair and ears where they were meant to be, but the rest of his head looked quite empty.

He quickly moved to the least occupied part of the room and spoke to nobody, still feeling very uncomfortable in this strange place with all of these odd creatures. He sat down in a corner and pretended to be looking at something very interesting on the wall next to him as he waited to see what everyone else was waiting for.
