Woooh, what happened here? It looks as though a nuke has been dropped...

Everywhere, for one thing this forum is itsy bitsy that you would not want to come here, people like simple, I know you've tried to make this a great place for RPers a like but it has gone a bit to far, for one there is 39 forums, never have I seen a board like this. Next get rid of most of the ranks and titles, I mean there is far to many, you don't need all these black tigers and blue rabbits and stuff, and then one for each admin or mod aswell, come on.

Up the top were your profile link is there a far to many links, I found it hard to find the one for my profile, they need to go or be put in a different place. Now there are to many medals, 53. The medals I think don't need to come down to much as there fun but when medals came all I wanted to do was get more and that led to RPing more than I should. And well you could get rid of them all if you wanted to because they will make new members feel intimidated.

Get rid of the Stock Exchange scroll bar, dam that is annoying. Also keep the ICO at the top a still image having it scroll is very distracting. Get rid of the paypal donate sine its horrid, replace it with something better.
As I said people like simple especially new people you don't want to come to a forum that is out of your depth and have to struggle to get over it all.

Now money and items, some people have far to much money, the idea was good to begin with but now its gone to far, there as to be a blackstar tax of some kind, also far to many items you should have to buy what your going to sell.

I really like you guys and I'd hate to see this forum crash so thats why it needs to be cleaned up.

1. A forum clean-up isn't going to magically solve everything.
2. Isn't the chrome what makes Blackstar so interesting in the first place? ...Well, okay, after the people, the setting, the characters. This isn't too valid a point.
3. People worked hard on some of those things and wouldn't likely want to see them removed with the only reason being "forum clean-up".

Just a few of my thoughts.

I appreciate the suggestions Vromoth, but if you want them to be taken seriously, you might want to just chill for a few.

First off, you get more flies with honey than vinegar. Instead of busting in here after how long away and start demanding what you think should change, and it should change right now, and be damned what anyone else thinks, offer it up for discussion. Maybe the people who are currently here like this or that.

Second, suggestions have their place. Topic is going to be moved.

Third, I am in the process of reworking the Dojo. while upgrading it to phpbb3. And when I do most (if not all) of the modifications are probably going by the wayside. Again, if you had looked at that email that obviously brought you back, you would have seen that.

So yeah, just chill.

Firstly I am chilled, I don't get unchilled, that's my way.
Secondly a disorganized forum is a bad thing even if it seems organized to those who have been here a long time. And I know that cleaning it up will not instantly fix everything but it is the first step and a reason why some would have left(not me but I may have, it was getting overwhelming about a year ago).

It was only a suggestion or suggestions but there is somethings wrong here and I was just pointing some of them out. I know that it has taken a lot of work and something I could have not done myself but I am good at being a critic so that is what I am and although I may go around it the wrong way my intentions are pure, or somewhat on the good side.

I have been away for awhile yes, and I can't demand anything but you could listen to me, I was here when blackstar was thriving and I left when it was thriving so I will be able to see the differences more than someone that has been here for a time, just like a child the parent does not notice how much they grow than one from the outside who has not seen them in awhile.

For DP: Mass email was in general chat also, you can not blame me. lol

Oh good, what you could do is put all the links into menus. And it would be good to make Blackstar more than a Forum, you could have other pages aswell(a bit like the public EC was), you could make one for all the records that would also minus the forum count. Making a users profile more editable would be a good thing also, like there own background and stuff.

I'm sorry DP if I seamed well, condescending I did not mean to be like that at all.

P.S What the hell happened to the EC? I couldn't hope to find there private site but there public one is gone aswell.

Sorry double post but I had to. I know it would be a long shot but what about making the forum into the map that you made(Which I think is brilliant) so you click on a place and you go to the forum which would have cool graphics. You would have to have an option so that people who didn't like this way could revert to the old forum stile though just like you can chose new skins now.

personally, as a newerish member the first time I came here it looked a little overwhelming BUT with the time I've spent here the features here are so unique, to get rid of the belts would be horrible I like them and the challenge to get a new one! I love it, it makes me want to rp more to gain that belt!

As annoying at the Stock Exchange is, I think this is another thing that makes Blackstar what it is. I like this site and I think it shouldn't change at all. I've grown to love this place for what it is and when it's upgraded I will be sad to lose all the good things that make it what it is, I think Blackstar should remain with all the things it has, it makes Blackstar unique and different from other forums and there are always new members here that we welcome...I haven't been here for a good while myself but since I last came nothing has changed and I like that ^^.

Just my comments on this. Sorry if they seem a little rude and all to anyone in this place....I feel strongly about the place I have grown to love in an rping site...This is one of the only....Actually it IS the only rpg site I go on anymore, and it's because of how unique it is! Keep up the awesome work on the site everyone! ^_^

To your comments on "Too many forums", Vromoth, I disagree. Along with much of what you complain about.

I came from very small forums and RP communities, naturally. The first time I looked at Blackstar I was hesitant, but that was because of the number of members and nothing else. When I looked in more depth, though, I saw it was a wonderful place and signed up right away.

The forums I came from generally had less than ten boards - even Gameware was about that, I believe. I wasn't ever really deeply involved in that forum though, and it wasn't an RP forum for me.

If someone can come from forums that small and still join here with ease (and then go on to continue joining on the whole small forums), clearly Blackstar isn't doing a thing wrong on that count.

As to the belts... how dare you try take the challenge away from those who love it? I got my yellow and red belts as soon as I qualified, and I'm now waiting on a medal to try for green. Earning the next belt is an accomplishment that makes me proud just as it is a challenge I love. There is nothing wrong with the number of ranks.

As for the links up the top... all the usual forum links are in the top row. Profile is *right there*.

Enough said.

Even though I thought Vromoth's 'suggestions' were presented in the totally wrong way, he did give me an idea.

This is probably a bit random being stuck in here but wouldn't it be good if the Hall of Records (where people post character bios) were a little more tied to people's profiles? Like, going into a person's profile gives them an option of adding/editing character information? Then in the memberlist, the profile would have an option to view people's character profiles.

It would mean that people wouldn't have to scroll through pages and pages of character info just to get to ones people would want to look at.

Just a random thought...

I agree with Dani on that last point. I keep a link to my characters topic in my signature, but not everyone does and it annoys me when I need to grab simple little details about someone else's characters and can't find them.
