This is a prequel to the book I am writing.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dragonborn: A prolouge to Feud.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zerrer was 16 years old. Today was his birthday. He had short blond hair and was about 5' 6. He was a disciple of Ragnok, the white dragonborn. There were 6 of these dragonborn, each with 1 disciple and a different color. He saw Toria walking by, She held in her arms a blue lance. That was her chosen weapon.
"Hello." He said.
"Hello." She said back to him. She dashed off.
Toria was a disciple of Nasre, the blue. She had blue hair, just like Nasre. Zerrer didn't know whether it was natural or magic, or even chemical.
Zerrer turned and walked to the compound. There was Shaed's room. Shaed, The black, had Sicas as a disciple. Sicas had a nasty disposition, and Zerrer didn't like her much. He knocked on the door, and saw Sicas.
"Yes?"
"Ragnok asks for Shaed."
"I'll get him."
Sicas walked off, and came back with a tall man. He had black hair, as well as large black scaled wings.
"Where does my brother wish to see me?"
"In his compound."
"I will come."
Zerrer led this half-human to his master's compound. He let him in, and then closed the door behind him. Zerrer was told to go practice with his weapon once he had led Shaed. He took his Nodachi sword and walked out to the practice field. He saw Toria, charging at a tree.
"Don't trip." He called, rather nervously.
She looked towards him and tripped. She fell to the ground and Zerrer ran to see if she was okay.
"Are you hurt?"
"Nope." She got up, and walked off.
He practiced for several hours until Alaroth walked towards him.
"Hey!" He said. Alaroth was Fera's Disciple. She was the Red. Alaroth was Zerrer's friend as well as sparring partner.
"Wanna duel?" Alaroth had brown spiky hair. He held exotic claw weapons that was strapped to his wrists.
"Sure." He brandished his sword.
Alaroth swung his left claw at Zerrer's face. He blocked the attack with his sword, but saw Alaroth's other claw flying towards him. Zerrer ducked the attack, and kicked his friend's left claw. He stuck his sword towards Alaroth's neck, aiming for a winning blow, but Alaroth blocked it with his right claw. Zerrer stuggled to block a left blow struck at him, but failed. Everything went black.
Zerrer was on the ground, with Alaroth and Toria looking down at him.
"You okay?" Toria asked
"Yes, I am. Alaroth just knocked me out for a second."
"Here." Toria looked at the three deep gashes in Zerrer's face. She held her hand over them, and they healed.
"Thank you."
"You lost?" A new voice entered the conversation. It was Hykral, Sicas's brother and the disciple of Ghed, the bronze. He had long brown hair that went to his waist. Sicas made fun of his hair regularly.
"Yes, I lost to Alaroth."
"Good job Alaroth!" Nobody had yet beaten Zerrer except for the dragonborn. Nothing could make him say that he had faked losing to make his friend feel better.
"Do you want to duel?" Hykral asked him. He held up his Broadsword.
"Sure." Zerrer got up, brushed the dust off of his white robe, and grabbed his Nodachi from where it fell.
"Go!" Toria called. She was usually the referee in these duels. Zerrer had never fought her, and did not wish to. Hykral swung his sword with both hands. Zerrer knew that that kind of attack would be too hard to block, and dodged out of the way. Hykral overexerted himself with that attack to recuperate before Zerrer could put the point of his sword to Hykral's neck.
"I win." Zerrer said. He would have said something else, like 'Game and point' but Ragnok disapproved of those cliche' phrases.
"That was quick." Sicas said. She was carrying a chain. It was a plain chain, but she liked stealing weapons from others with it, and using them. "I'll duel you." She swung her chain at Alaroth, and then he was missing a claw. The claw, incedentally, had Zerrer's blood on it. It was attached to the chain somehow, and she swung her chain at Zerrer, but he blocked it and leaped onto the chain, pinning it down. She tugged on it, and pulled it free. The claw had fallen off and was sitting on the ground. Sicas swung the chain at him, and he ducked beneath it. She swung the other end, and he jumped over it. She swung both at the same time, and Zerrer was forced to backflip to dodge it. He succeeded, but dropped the sword. Sicas stole it, and whipped the sword at him. He caught it, and tugged the entire chain out of her hands. He put the sword to her neck.
He said nothing, just stared at her.
Later that day, after dueling everyone but Toria and Ihamra, The green's disciple, he returned to his masters' quarters.
"Master?" He knocked on the door. "Before I went to sleep I wanted to know if you had anything else for me to do."
"No thank you." His master's voice returned. "Sleep if you want. I'll call you in the morning."
Zerrer slept fitfully that night.

Another half hour down the drain
---------------------------------------
Chapter 2
Zerrer woke up that morning knowing something was wrong. He rushed to Ragnok's room and knocked on the door.
"Come in." He heard his master say.
Zerrer walked into the room and saw Ragnok. He was a man with white hair and white scaled wings. He had a hammer mounted upon the wall of his room.
"I need you to know something."
"What, Master?"
"There are people after us."
"Who?"
"They are people called hunters. They are seeking out the compound and planning to destroy us."
"Why?"
"Because we are not human."
"We?"
"You are no more human then I am. You are stronger and faster than any human in this realm.
"So these hunters...."
"Yes?"
"They are why you wanted to see Shaed yesterday."
"Yes. I need you to get everybody."
Zerrer walked off.
The Disciples; Toria, the blue, Zerrer, the white, Sicas, the black, Alaroth, the red, Hykral, the bronze, and Ihamra, the reclusive green.
The Dragonborn; Nasre, the blue, Ragnok, the white, Shaed, the black, Fera, the red, Fera, the bronze, and Meghar, the green.
All were gathered in the council room.
Ragnok, the leader, adressed the others.
"The hunters are very close to finding us."
"The hunters?" Fera asked. "We defeated them years ago."
"No, we did not. Nasre came and told me she saw the hunters finding us and killing each one of us."
"I propose we fight!" Fera said.
"We cannot, or Nasre's vision will come true."
"What about hiding?" Meghar said.
"They will find us."
"What about going to another realm?" Zerrer proposed.
"What?"
"The way you said I was faster and stronger then any human in this realm, it sounded like there were other realms."
"Wait, what?" Ghed said.
"Let the boy speak." Ragnok said. "He might have something."
"If there are other realms, it should be possible to travel between them. If we figure out how, we can go somewhere else and they will never find us."
"That could happen." Meghar said. "It's not natural, but I might be able to figure out how."
"You can only interact with nature, Meghar. We would each need to work to find out how to travel between realms." Ragnok said.
"How would we start?" Shaed said. "I would prefer fighting, but if there's any other option..."
"We could start by looking for other things, such as ghosts or spirits. If anything can travel between these realms, as young Zerrer calls them, then the spirits could."
And so the research began. The Disciples went to work looking through old books as the dragonborn went and did field research. They were looking and communicating with the spirits of the compound, for it was built out of a castle where many people were beheaded and executed. Zerrer had talked with the king on several occasions, who had died several eons ago. Zerrer, right now, was looking at a history book about that certain king.
"You know, that thing is not very accurate." The aged king was transparent.
"Hello."
"What did you wish to know?"
"I want to know if there are other realms."
"Realms?"
"I mean, worlds, or universes, or somewhere that is here that I cannot see or interact."
"Like the spirit world?"
"No, because I can see and interact with you."
"Why do you want to know about these realms?"
"Because there are people trying to kill me and my master's kin."
"There is someone who does not belong here. I saw him on my way here."
"Really! I have to go tell Ragnok."
"Farewell, Zerrer." The king vanished.
"Farewell, Your majesty." Although he was no longer a king, Zerrer called him that because he did not know the king's name.
Ragnok was already informed of the intruder. Nasre had seen them and had run to Ragnok to inform him. Because Nasre sometimes saw the future and the past, he was not sure.
"Who did you find it out from?"
"The deceased king, a few minutes ago."
"Find him, and kill him."
"Yes, master."
Zerrer found the intruder walking around the halls. It was a man with a crystal sword.
"Hah, a kid. I'm sorry your life was so short."
Zerrer said nothing. He pulled out his Nodachi.
"You really want to fight?" The man swung his blade at Zerrer.
Zerrer blocked, twisted his sword and repelled the other man's sword.
"You know your swordplay."
Zerrer said nothing.
"Why don't you talk?"
"Because there is nothing to talk about." Zerrer swung his sword, not expecting it to land, but to test the other man's capabilities. The man blocked it easily. He threw another several futile blows before the man spoke.
"Maybe you don't know your swordplay that well."
Zerrer landed a succession of blows onto the man's sword, shattering it completely. He put his sword to the man's neck.
"You insult me." Zerrer said. "You will die for your insult." He sliced the man's neck He fell to the ground, bleeding to death. Zerrer was trembling. He had never killed a man before, and the bad thing was, he good at it.

These chapters are really short, aren't they?
Chapter 3
--------------------------------------
The king was talking to Ragnok, the only other one in the compound that could see him. Certain spirits could only speak to certain people. Zerrer was trying to calm himself in the forest.
"What are you doing here?" Ihamra asked. She and her master, Meghar, were very reclusive, and lived in the forest next to the castle. She had red hair, green eyes, and pointed ears. She was very shy, but for some reason she came and talked to him openly.
"Calming myself. How did you know i was here?"
"The tree's spirit told me." The green claimed that the trees had spirits, and recently Ihamra sported this particular gift. "What do you need to calm yourself for?"
"I killed a man today."
"Why did you need to?"
"He was a hunter. Ragnok told me to."
"Yes. The willow tree near the entrance complained of him climbing on her to get into a window."
"Ah."
"Have a nice day." Ihamra walked off, singing in a clear voice. It was beautiful.
"Can you hear it? The roar of a whole empire..."
Zerrer walked back to find more hunters. There were three, and one of them had a small white tiger wearing a chain leash.
He drew his blade, and was pleased to find he was still not trembling.
He said nothing.
"What are you doing, kid?"
He said nothing.
One of the held out a crossbow. Zerrer cartwheeled out of the line of fire, and then another drew a quarterstaff.
"I'll kill him." He volunteered.
The quarterstaff flew towards his head. He ducked under it, and sliced the man's wrist, snapping the tendon also.
"Brat!"
Zerrer killed the man with a few deft slashes. The crossbowman pulled out a whip and tried to whip Zerrer. He caught the whip in his bare hand, and tugged. He jumped and split the man's skull. The third man held duel swords. They were small things, but fast. Zerrer blocked three, no, four slashes with inhuman speed and dispatched the man. The cat made a noise, and Zerrer let it go. It was just a beast, and a young one at that. It was forced to do the things it was trained to. It wandered off into the forest.
"Thank you." It said. Zerrer looked, and it was gone.
Back in the compound, everyone had fought hunters. Each had won. Toria had a scratch on her face, and lacked the energy to heal it.
"That'll scar." Zerrer said.
Toria looked at him.
"Did you see Ihamra?" Meghar asked. "She was not at our cottage."
"Yes, I did. She was singing in the forest."
"Ah, a gift even we do not have." Ragnok said.
"Her singing is a gift nobody except she has." Zerrer said.
Meghar walked to the single tree in the courtyard.
"Could you ask Ihamra to come to the compound?" He spoke to the tree.
Ihamra came not much later, holding a small white tiger. It looked at Zerrer with intelligent eyes.
"I found this little thing in the forest. Apparently Zerrer saved it from being a warbeast of the hunters. Old Oak told me."
"Very nice." Ragnok said, looking at his disciple. Zerrer could still not forget the three hunters he fought and killed an hour ago. "What's on your mind?"
"I've killed men today."
"We all have." Alaroth said.
"Yes, but what scares me is that I'm good at it."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"All who have a gift are fated to use it."
"How very wise of you." Ragnok said.
"Why are you such a wimp?" Sicas asked. Half of her hair was sheared off, and she had a black eye.
"You know what I noticed?" Alaroth addressed him. "Every disciple here has marks from their battle, except you."
"As he said, he's good at it." Meghar said.
A large crash sounded, and Ihamra yelped.
"They killed Old Oak!" She pulled out a katana, a thin, swift blade that was a smaller version of Zerrer's Nodachi.
Suddenly another crash declared that the hunters had used Old Oak, as Ihamra called it, to knock down the gate.
"Battle positions!" Ghed exclaimed.
The hunters were as disorganized as the Dragonborn and their disciples. They brandished as many different kinds of exotic weapons, and used them with equal skill. Ihamra was especially deadly. Her katana killed more than Ragnok's hammer that day. She danced with her sword, and death followed. Zerrer cut down many people that day, and he remembered that day for years.
The hunters were endless. They had equal skill with the disciples, but they fell all the same. More people filled their spots, and died as their comrades did.
"Run!" Ragnok told him. "We will fight them off! Run!"
The disciples ran, as their masters fought. Ihamra leaded them to the forest.
"We should be okay here." Ihamra said. "The trees will protect us."
"Really?" Alaroth said.
Ihamra did not have to answer because vines and branches grew around the disciples, hiding them from view.
"Ihamra." Toria said.
"Yes?"
"You seem different today. Normally we do not see you or hear from you for days at a time, but today in battle you could have rivalled Ragnok, You ask the trees and they listen."
"I'm 17 tomorrow."
"Really?"
"That means you are one day from being a year older then me."
"Ah." They slept that night in the dome of trees. It lasted for years near the ruins, and was called Ihamra's circle for years.
"Good morning." Ihamra said. She was up early that day, and all days following. She watched the dawn every day from then on, even in a jail cell looking out the window.
"Happy birthday." Zerrer groaned. He was not a morning person.
"Congratulations." Alaroth said. He was a morning person.
Ihamra was holding the tiger, which was the size of a large cat or a small dog.
"Have you decided to name her? Or him?" Toria asked.
"Syph. It's a him."
"Why Syph?"
"It came to me in a dream." She said. She whispered to a tree, and a window opened in the vines. She looked out, and watched the dawn. Suddenly, she gasped. She was knocked to the ground by some unknown force. Pulses of energy emanated from her, and Zerrer rushed to her body, only to get knocked to the side of the circle by that unknown force. A burst of green fire shot from her arm It twisted around, and shot out of the window.
"Let them out!" She gasped. A doorway appeared in the vines, and they piled out. Green fire burst from each crevice of the dome, but did not harm the trees. It harmed the grass and the birds, but not the trees. As suddenly as it started, it ended. She walked out of the circle, and she looked completely different. She no longer had red hair, but it was green. She was taller, and her skin looked different. She had green scaled wings coming out of her shoulderblades.
"You look like Megha." Sicas said.
"I look like Megha." Ihamra the dragonborn agreed. _________________ http://zerrer.deviantart.com/

All of the disciple stood stunned.
"So, you are a dragonborn now?" Hykral said.
"Yes. It means that my master did not live."
"What?" Zerrer asked.
"Megha told me many things about dragonborn. I was chosen by Megha to gain his powers when he died. I 'molted' the exact second 17 years after I was born. All of you are dragonborn."
"Why don't we have wings?" Sicas asked.
"You have not molted yet."
"It's more like exploding." Sicas referred to molting as exploding for years after.
"But we are still dragonborn."
"Yes."
"What was that fire?" Sicas asked.
"Dragonborn can conjure it." Hykral said. "Ghed used it daily. I think it's color specific."
"It is." Ihamra said.
"What do we do now?" Zerrer asked.
"You choose, Zerrer." Ihamra said. "Because I will follow you."
"I will follow you." Alaroth said. "You are my friend."
"I will follow you also." Toria mentioned. She never said why.
"Why not?" Hykral said.
"It'd be better if we stick together." Sicas reasoned.
"Syph, are you going to come?" Ihamra held her hand out to the tiger. He sniffed her hand, then meowed.
"Let's go." Zerrer said.
"Where?"
"To the library. I need to see the king."
"Okay."
"Yes." The late king said.
"There are other realms?" Zerrer asked.
"I searched and found them."
"How?"
"The same way your cheek was healed."
"By magic?"
"Yes."
"You were watching that?"
"Yes." The old man gave a wink, as if he knew how Zerrer thought of her.
"Is there a certain incantation?"
"You have to feel."
"Feel?"
"The border is like a rope or a chain. You need to snap it, and then tie it."
"Okay. I know who to get to do this."
Zerrer could remember that scene for years. Sicas had held out her arms and beams of light shot out of hre arms and then a doorway appeared. With a ripping noise, the doorway opened, and beyond was another world.
"This is Salene." Sicas said.
"How do you know that?" Zerrer asked.
"I just do. This realm is called Salene."
"Why are you so sure?" Hykral asked.
"We all have powers that nobody else has." Toria said.
"Like my wings?" Ihamra asked.
"No." Toria said flatly. "Like your singing."
"My singing?"
"Yes." Toria looked at Ihamra. "I've heard it before."
"Sing for us, please?" Zerrer asked.
"Sure." She started singing as they walked. They crossed a river and walked into a forest. It was green and alive.
"Here." Toria said. "Here we will be safe for now."
"How do you know that?" Hykral asked.
"I just do."
"Ah." Zerrer said. He accepted her knowledge just as readily as Ragnok accepted Nasre's.
"What, now you can see the future?" Sicas asked.
"You just opened a gateway between realms, yet you doubt the possibility of arcane knowledge?" Ihamra asked.
The next day they continued walking.
A man was standing on the side of the road. He was alarmed at Ihamra, but tried to remain civil.
"I'm sorry, but this road is toll only."
"I'm sorry, but no." Zerrer said in the same civil tone.
"I'm prepared to call for guards."
"I'm prepared to kill you and your guards."
"No. Pay!"
Zerrer said nothing.
"Pay now!" The man drew his sword.
"You are nothing but a bandit. All you do is take money from helpless adventurers. I will not pay for your schemes and I will not allow you to force others to pay."
The man became infuriated, and jabbed his sword at Zerrer. Zerrer deflected it and put his own sword to the other man's neck.
"You are nothing but a bandit. Tell me why I should let you live."
"I have a family." Zerrer could tell this man was lying.
"And?"
"And.. I have money!"
"Money stolen from others."
"Er... powerful friends!" The man was lying about this also.
Zerrer looked at the man and said nothing.
"Please don't kill me!" The man fell to his knees. "Please!"
"Leave him alone, Zerrer." Toria said.
"Okay." Zerrer took the money from the man.
"Zerrer!" Hykral said.
"This was stolen from others in the first place. Plus, we do not have money from this world."
"That's still wrong."
"Is it wrong to hunt a deer if you were starving?"
"Er." Hykral said.
"Your logic is undeniable. I submit to your will." Sicas laughed.
Along the road further was a town. They walked into the town, when someone drew a sword at another man, and kicked him down into Ihamra's path.
"Give me my money!"
"This place is sick. All people want is money." Ihamra whispered. "Don't kill him!" She called to the man.
"Why shouldn't I, Demon?"
"Demon?" Sicas laughed hysterically.
"Because it's wrong."
"It's wrong to kill one for what they owe?"
"It's wrong to owe in the first place."
"Then what prevents me from killing him?"
"My retribution." She bared her teeth and drew her katana.
"What an unusual weapon." The man lowered his sword. "I wish not to feel its bite."
"Very wise." Sicas said, still laughing.
The man walked away.
"Thank you." The man that Ihamra had saved was brushing the dust off of his tunic.
"Try not to get anybody else angry at you."
"See that mountain?" Hykral was talking to Alaroth. "If we made the compound there, then we could help this town."
"Help?"
"Do you not see? These people are having trouble just surviving."
"Can you see a path to the top of the mountain?"
"No, but I think I can make one." Hykral said.
"Make a path? How?"
"I am the bronze." He said, as if it explained everything.
"Okay." The man said, after talking to Ihamra for a minute. "I'll talk to you later."
"What did you say?" Zerrer asked. "I was listening to Hykral."
"I said that he might see us again."
"Why?"
"Because I was listening to Hykral also, and I agree."
"How could we make the path, though?"
"That's not my problem." She flew up to the top of the mountain.
"That's not too tact." Sicas said.
"Stand back." Hykral said.
Everybody stepped backwords. Hykral lifted his hands, and dust gathered around his feet. More dust started gathering around him, until Zerrer could no longer see him. He shoved his hands forward, and the ground trembled. The mountain did not move.
"Not enough to rip tops off of mountains yet, eh?" Sicas said.
"Why not a rope?" Zerrer asked.
"I'll buy one." Toria walked into the town.
"Ihamra!" Zerrer called. She flew back down.
"What?"
"Could you carry a rope up there?"
"Sure."
Not long after, everybody was on the mountain.
"Nice sight up here." Alaroth commented.
"What do we do now?" Toria asked Zerrer.
"Build."
This is only part 1.
