I have a quandary, I'd like my character to have a home to work out of but, am I allowed to commandeer a section of the map for this?
If not, who can I buy it from?
I was considering just putting a description up and starting to weapon-smith on an informal basis, but firstly i didn't know which forum to put it up in, then i realised how rude that would be to The Sensei.
hints and tips people? _________________ The Deadly Donkey:

I just put a building up and let people get used to the idea it was there.
In my case it was maybe a bit different since I was sort of under orders from DP, what with it being the Training Dojo and everything. The fact that Danikat also semi-moved in there later is mostly unrelated.
But plenty of other people have created buildings for themselves. I don't know how you'd go about getting it added to the map but unless you want to take over a significant amount of space I can't see why it'd be a problem for you to just pick out a spot and move in.
It'd be even easiser if you wanted to move into Psychotopia or Dojopolis, since both of those are supposed to have loads of buildings and the majority are unclaimed. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

Yeah, I just kinda put up a description of Kazumaru's lab and let it be... same with the Broken Coast Labs.
Although the Lab /has/ gone through about a dozen spatial revisions... _________________ "Paranesia was quickly becoming sick of her hands. "You're not particularly impressive looking, are you?"" |

No, Zerrer, you paid 20,000 for the subforum.
You are free to explore the map, and if you deem necessary, stake your claim on part of the map. Someone has already done so, as a matter of fact.
For the current map, you can check out : http://maps.blackstardojo.org _________________

Personally I think that this is the best way to go. Even if you go to the trouble of buying a subforum, there's no guarantee that everybody's going to like it or even post in it.
If you don't feel like that's enough, just keep referring to your place all the time, or create a thread about it that people really enjoy (eg: 'hey everybody, party at my place... RP'). _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...

When your location is known to the general population, then it is deemed important enough to add to the map.
I know this seems a bit ambiguous, but the reason why the current user generated locations are on the map (Kaz's Lab, the Safari Zone, etc.) is because other people refer to them and use them.
Subforums, Board Shop locations and the like are automatically added to the map. Other locales will be on a case by case basis, but feel free to go explore an area (through a RP) and set up a lab/home/diabolical lair/hovel/cave/stable or whatever you like. _________________

A map of Psychotopia could be useful, although very hard to put together. As I mentioned earlier I believe the majority of that city remains undefined, and there isn't much cohesion between the parts that do exist.
Although DP may well have some idea of the layout, since it was his domain for a while before he let us run rampant over/under/through it. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

Ahh, Thanks everyone I'll just mention it from time to time, like Danikat suggested.
[Shameless advertising]
On the slopes of Mount Neverrest, high on a crag and blanketed in snow for half the year, stand the great forges. Guzzling Alpine winds and thrumming with the storms.
Great forces forge steel and plate together with the Unseen.
Conrtact one battle weapon, get matching armour half price!
Terms and conditions apply, see below for details. not aplicable to enchants/spelled, mithril or decorative armour. Designs may not be stolen from anything with a copyright. seriously, that's just pathetic.

A map of Psychotopia City has been discussed, but the World map was a huge endeavour, and Embri has requested a break between that and any other map.
Plus I have to gather my thoughts on Psychotopia. Traditionally, half of the City is destroyed (thanks to the Mutant Chicken Wars RP back at Gameware), but there has been no mention of the ruined area since the founding of Blackstar. There has been several mentions to the Central fountain - of which I have a crude drawing from many a years ago lying around. _________________
