The Afterlife is, quite obviously, where immortal souls go when they are taken by Ashanti.

The Afterlife is, simply, an infinitely large, white void. Those who had wings in their mortal life can fly, but otherwise they walk on an invisible floor.

If a soul touches another soul, if they taste each other, the sense is dimmed. The same applies to pain.

Souls kept within the Afterlife are visibly unchanged by the change in environment -- they are still translucent, and have much more solid-looking wings and halo floating around them.

There are many odd laws affecting the Afterlife.

For one, and the most obvious: Others are not visible unless you have seen them while alive. There is a way to circumvent this.

The circumvention is called the Ritual by those within the Afterlife. The Ritual involves reliving the life of the soul who started the Ritual. It results in being able to see the soul. It is common courtesy in the Afterlife to follow one's Ritual with your own, but there is no way to enforce this.

There are also given certain restrictions in the Afterlife, based on how the soul lived in its mortal life. The most severe of these restrictions is the soul being forced into a permanently comatose state. Only four souls have been known to be in this state.

The only known way to leave the Afterlife is by divine intervention -- that is to say, a god appearing and taking a soul as his or her spirit.
