Decapits are very odd animals that you should generally stay away from. They love meat, and they don't care who or what they have to eat in order to get it.

Geneology:

Decapits are relitives of gryphons. They do indeed look much like their majestic cousins, but there are a few key differences. For one, most of their head is taken up by an enormus beak, and their head has to be large as well to accomidate this beak (whereas gryphons have a small head and beak). Their wings are sharply pointed, like that of a bird, and is smaller than that of a gryphon. Their bodies are covered in feathers, and their feet are more of that of a five toed bird, rather than that of a lion's paw.

Places Found:

Decapits can be found everywhere. They were first discovered in Aug' Naughten, and were later discovered in such places as Cadrakia, Magic Land (then called Maka), and Kuch, as well as other places.

Orgin:

Decapits are said to have originated from Kuch. Scientists have unearthed the fossiles of odd animals that look like a missing link between the animals Decapit and Gryphon. They say that around 100000 BD (in Dojo years) several mutations went about a colony of Gryphons. This mutation brought out the hawk in the gryphons a bit more. Slowly, over time, these mutated Gryphons bred with each other and slowly they branched off from the Gryphons and became their own seperate species.

For years scientists could not figure out why the Gryphon genes mutated at that specific time. Then, one day, one scientist discovered the remains of a volcano near the spot where the bones of the mutated Gryphons had been unearthed. After careful studying, it was found that that volcano erupted a few years before the fossles were discovered. In fact, exactly a few years before whatever animal that became the fossile was born! So, after more careful study, the scientists concluded that when the volcano erupted, it carried some sort of Heavy Metals inside it. This got into the pregnate female Gryphons, causing their young to mutate.

Diet: Decapits are meat eaters. They will do whatever is possible to get meat. They have even been known to eat their own young.

However, they do have a few favorite dishes:

Humans
Draconians
Aquas
Waterlogs
Dragon Young (if they can get it. Most of the time, on first sight of a Decapit, adult dragons will go into a frenzy and attack the Decapit)

Size: Decapits are roughly the size of a baby elephant. They are actually a bit larger, but no one has ever been brave enough to go up to a Decapit and measure it (save for Decapit riders, and they aren't interested in measuring their mounts)

Family Arragment:

Decapit young stay with their parents until they are 5 years of age, whereas they are considered adults. Decapits stay with their mates, but it is a true "till death do us part" ordeal. That is, if the Decapit is tired of its mate, it will eat the mate and find another.

Enemies:

Decapits have few natural enemies, but there are a few worth naming:

Gryphons
Hippogrifs
Cats (scientists do not know why)

Apples are poisioness to them.
