Need some help with forum

I wish to put a shop, cash mod, and job mod, among others on my forum, KC11's Norn Site (soon to change title to something else, maybe Cadrakia or something). However, I just cannot understand the readme very well. What folders? How? What program?

Please help. I am using the same sort of forum as this one.

a) You need ftp and sql access to install the mods

b) I'm running phpbb here, where as you are running proboards. Definately not the same.

1. Learn PHP
2. Buy Server Space (Free boards aren't going to cut it)
3. Program your Board from scratch.

Good Luck. :\ It's doable (as evidenced by Blackstar and other forums like it) but you need to be a whiz programmer to get anything more than stock MODS up and running.

Well, that's an idea gone bust. I can't buy anything, my parents wouldn't let me, and I am definatly not a programmer.

I'm starting a new forum myself, though of a entirely different nature, and you can just do the best you can. Maybe take a couple computer classes?

As for the mods...yeah...I let slip at work that I can do php/mysql work, so now I'm drowning in a list of internal sites people wish me to program.

And when I'm not doing that I'm coding for Blackstar (doubt anyone noticed, by I recently completely rewrote the item usage mod to have it work better...which it does, and of course if I did my job right no one would notice Wink

That sucks, that you got saddled with more work - hopefully they let you out of some other jobs to make up for it?

I suppose it's a good way to practice and learn new things. Maybe...

Makes sense that there could be sites out there that will give you free hosting and access (though I hadn't heard of them myself) but of course there's a price, there always is. In the end, you still need to know PHP really well. >.<

Well, Violet's old host (the one that hosted inkwell.com.ru) was set up with the post for host setup. Before Telephony supported Blackstar, forums supported these forums.

If you figure that one out, tell me about it.
