How Annoying Were you as a Newbie?

Simply as the topic says. How much did you spam, get angry over every little thing, talk in chat speak, and that sort of stuff?

BTW, if you ARE a newbie, please take no offense.

Anyway, on a scale of one to ten, I was probubly an..... 8.

I started a million RPs that never got anywhere, I spammed several games, and I demonstrated complete lacking of any knowledge of Blackstar for quite a while.

on A2k, I would say a ten. I was the most annoying and obnoxious person ever. SFOT can agree with that.

Probably about a 5? Maybe a little less... I had good grammar and writing skills, I just lacked an understanding of how to properly RP and powerplayed a bit too much every now and then.

That being said, I'd probably give myself the same score now for similar reasons

My idea of grammar was horrific, and I powerplayed waaaay to often to be nice for anybody else nearby. Heck, I can see plenty of ways I can go back and fix up a couple of my older characters here.

Oh, and I yelled at people lots. I need to cut down on that....

Um... not to sound up myself or anything, but I think probably somewhere between 2 and 4, maybe a little more to some people lol.

My grammar and spelling was generally good, and aside from a slight misunderstanding of powerplaying (which really was only ever very minor and not often) my roleplaying was properly conscientious. Though I did have that tendancy to flame ANYONE that pissed me off enough... it didn't happen regularly or anything, but I managed to get a topic locked on TCT for flaming an admin. they DID call me male and accuse me of spamming, after all (which I was NOT).

Although, come to think of it I still DO the flaming bit.... I swear I'm not still a newbie! D:

What, you're not willing to put yourself on the chopping block? Basically, I wanted to be a part of everything in the RP at once. My grammar and spelling were OK, and I learned the basic idea of powerplay and that it was bad...but definately too eager. Plus my writing style lack - well, style! I was still inventing the character (as should be evidenced), and had no idea who exactly DP was...

See if you can find everyone's favorite Flamethrower by the way.

Posting in a thread that's been inactive for almost a month? Such forum necromancy would clearly net someone at least a six or above! Oh, wait...

Ahem. I don't know when to define when I started RPing in general. But oh man I was annoying. "TEACH ME TO RP NOW! NOWWW! TEACH MEEEE!!!" I give myself a 8, and that's only because I've pretty much always typed with correct grammar and spelling.

That and the fact I'd make tons of characters, throw them all into one RP, and basically try to focus everything on them.

And powerplaying? Well, I knew like many it was a Bad Thing but I don't think I had any characters with many major or even apparent flaws for ages.

'Course, this has gone completely the opposite now. None of my characters would last five minutes in reality, on the basis that they're a combination of horribly unlucky, too stupid to live, or have taken a vow or similar to never use their powers in the way anyone would expect them too.

This is in stark contrast to the old formulaic characters I had who could roll sixes on a die for hours on end, had OoC knowledge (that's probably one of the worst transgressions you can make in RP), and would use whatever abilities they had for something as trivial as opening a bottle. Even if and especially if it was completely unnecessary.

That and most of my characters were clichéd and ill-defined. "This one's a guy who can use elemental magic, this one's entirely made out of water..." Oh, wait. I still have that second one. But then, like, say, DP's character, the character of Cirrial now is almost completely unrecognisable to the character of Cirrial then.

As for my actual style of RP, I really, really don't remember what it was like. I think it was quite blunt and to the point (I've never seen the point of pages upon pages of purple prose to describe someone walking across the room, but in some schools of thought that's the pinnacle achievement of RP) but it was mainly the actions that showed me up. "Cirrial walks into the tavern and waves at a bottle of water across from the counter, which flies into his hand. He takes a seat and observes what everyone else is doing." Yeah.

But then over time my style improved and my characters became more imaginative (some of them deserve ressurrection, on reflection, whereas the best aspects of others were recycled into new ones) and eventually I was invited to an RP tournament, where I made up a character at 12:15 AM on the spur of the moment who was a dolphin in a mech. And from there I went to Blackstar and I <s>took over the world</s> suddenly realise how this went from a discussion of how noobish I was to a personal history.

Well, um, if you made it this far, congratulations! Now I want to type up a history of my RPing efforts and I don't know why... >_>
