I for one, love the new synth system, and would like to make full use of it. Unforuntately, there are also many items that I COULD fit into the new system, but would rather stick in the old.
What I'm saying is that I think there should be a license that allows for an item that can be bought in your store, and cannot be synthed. Basically an importation license gold for normal items or an exclusive resource which can be used and cannot be synthed into anything.
Or did I misunderstand the wiki and there already is such a license? _________________ ~Goron~

Hm... I can't really remember off the top of my head what the form on the wiki says, but I asked Embri about the same thing, and she said that it was easy to make unsynthable items.
So afaik you can make them, but I'm not entirely sure as to how you'd fill out the paperwork for them . _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...

| Why not fill out an exclusive resource form, then an item creation form and make that resource the sole ingredient? Keep the resource for yourself, and its practically unsynthable. |

There are lots of ways to circumvent the system and get it that way. Just like if you want to make a unique item without an importation license gold on the old system, you make an item with one stock at a high price, then never restock.
The point is, I'm trying to see if there's an official way. I figured a few others are probably curious too. _________________ ~Goron~

Making an item synthable is actually more work than leaving it unsynthable. I have no problem with having unsynthable items around... though there will be a price.
The synth system was put into place for a few reasons.
1. We were hoping everyone would find it a fun and enjoyable challenge.
2. It requires many fewer items to be restocked 'by hand' by an Admin.
3. It requires items produced to have a "production cost" per item - caused by the resources/Synth fees needed to make it.
Making unsynthables defeats purpose #2 of the Synth System - the more unsynthables you have, the more work the Admin (read: me) has to do to keep things up and running. Thus....
I don't mind putting unsynthables into the system, but there are going to be limitations. First, you will need a License, I haven't decided what kind yet. Probably just a normal Importation License. Second limitation, probably the most important: YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET A RESTOCK OF THIS ITEM.
Why? Because this way it does not cause a snowball effect of more and more manual restock items piling up in the system. If you want something unsynthable, it's a one shot deal - you'll have to request the amount of that item you want up front. While right now Blackstar is comparatively small, the more members we gain means more and more possible item makers, and I will be firm and restrict everyone to a single manual restock item - your Exclusive Resource.
Third and final limitation - you'll be charged a significant fee per item, equivalent to the price I would have assigned for (materials+synth fees). Unsynthables will not be a workaround to getting cheap items; they will be exactly like Synthed items in cost/effects, except that you will never be able to make them. You must also pay for your entire order up front - say your item's value is put at 500 , and you want ten - that's 5,000 , paid out in advance.

EDIT: Oh, and I thought I'd add the comment that making an item then only having one in existance (not synthing more) is NOT a "circumvention" of the system, nor is it in any way less "official" - while previously the Importation License Gold's only effect was to make an item with the "Special" tag, it has a much more drastic effect with the introduction of the Item Use MOD - items made with an Importation License Gold are generally Unbreakable (unless the creator requests otherwise) and have very high hit rates or even two possible effects, like the Dojo Relics - something you cannot do just by requesting a normal Synth and crafting only one of it. Yes, your item will be unique. It will not, however, be of equal ability to one made with a Gold License. _________________
