Eggs...?

((No, this isn't a spam thread. This is for a roleplay, you can observe, or if you really feel it necessary, join in....

This is continued from a training thread, A Stroll and A Flight Of Fance in the training dojo...))

Kafka sees the avian up above him, flying gleefully. He could understand what it was like to glide through the air, however, his clan never usually did, because it normally resulted in death.

As they near the mountain range on the edge of the Evergreen Glades, he spies a suitable cave up ahead. As he lands, he fires various streams of webbing that attach to trees and he yanks himself hard up into the air.

As he does so, he streamlines himself, becoming a kind of torpedo. Going for the long shot, he fires a long stream of webbing at a point above the cave, he yanks himself towards it, slowly reeling the webbing back into himself, as a kind of zip line.

He has to fire a second line of web at the ground of the cave to land safely, instead of crashing into the wall. Looking inside, his eyes adjust to the darkness. A small fire, this cave could turn out to be fairly warm.

He looks to see where the avian is....

*Harpy scans the ground as she glides, at one point stopping her momentum and hovering to watch Kafka 'zip-line' with his web into the cave*

*Harpy in eagle form bobs her head and glides down to the caves entrance, changing back to her humanoid form just before her feet touch the ground. Harpy looks inside the cave*

It'll do I suppose... You know, I still don't know your name...

Kafka blinks at the avian. "I do not know yours. You may call me Kafka..."

He pauses, as he looks at the surrounding forest, "We have all we need below for warmth and sustinance. I trust you know how to create fire?"

*Harpy tilts her head slightly as Kafka pauses and looks around*

Yes, I do... Don't you know how to make fire? I'm called Harpy

*She folds her arms and scans inside the cave with her enhanced vision for anything, and thankfully finds nothing*

Good, nothing else has lived in here for a while...

Kafka smiles at Harpy, "A strange name. We should gather nesting materials and wood. Sustinance can be provided later."

With that, he leaps to a nearby tree and begins to rip of large branches, disturbing insects and some smaller birds who were feeding. Leaping back to the cave, he has about three large branches, amassed with leaves.

Looking at Harpy, "It's a start."

*Harpy looks at the branches that were covered in leaves, watching the last few bugs drop off*

A start, yes

*Another change and a huge eagle takes off from the side of the cave. Harpy's talons grasp several branches and pull them off the trees. The egale moves towards the cave entrance and hovers, dropping the branches right next to it even while other animals that hadn't been shook off tried to escape the torn limb*

*Harpy turns her head so she's only looking at Kafka with one eye, waiting for him to say something*

Kafka drags the branches into the cave, going deep enough as to hide from any view from outside. He begins trying to lay the branches out into a nest of sorts, but appears to be struggling, he is after all from a clan who sleep in ready made holes, and webbing.

Turning to look at Harpy, "Maybe, you should build the nest? I'll collect the branches...?" He smiles slightly, trying to hide his embarrassment.

*Harpy in her eagle form makes a sort of squawking sound. It's not too loud but it's loud enough to signify if she were in humanoid form she'd be laughing*

*Landing, and still in eagle form Harpy walks back into the cave and finds the half started nest that Kafka had dragged down there. Harpy picks up several branches with her talons and starts smoothing them with her beak, if this was to be a proper nest she had to attempt to 'communicate' with the part of herself that was completely eagle*

*This proved more difficult than she thought for that part of her wanted nothing more than to escape the confines the cave, but she maintained what balance she could. The bird part of her started weaving the branches into a half decent looking nest*

Kafka justs stands there as Harpy laughs. He watches her enter the cave, and begin forming a nest. After a minute or two, he turns to face the forest.

He leaps again into nearby trees, and spends the next five minutes ripping off branches, and depositing them outside of the cave, after he feels he's found enough, he drags most of them to Harpy. A few left outside of the cave, he begins separating foliage from branch, piling them up separately and stores them in small grooves inside of the cave.

Some of the larger branches, he practices putting them up as wind-breakers to the cave, temporarily making the cave dark. Moving them out of the way again, he decides that they need to make sure that if they do have any young, they need to be safe.

After about ten minutes of frantic web-making, a large web is made between the platform of the cave, and the nearest trees, so that nothing could possibly fall. Nodding, he goes back inside to check on Harpy's progress.

*Harpy had taken the branches Kafka had brought and was almost finished weaving the branches when Kafka came down. The nest was fairly large and rounded, as well as sturdy*

*Finishing the last bit, Harpy stares at it with a green eagle eye. Something appears to be missing... Not figuring it out but having an odd itch appear on her back, Harpy shakes herself, her golden feathers fluff out and some fall on the inside of the nest...*

*That was what was missing! Feathers, they'd make it soft... Harpy makes a show of grooming herself, plucking out loose and irregular feathers and starts lining the nest with them*

Kafka watches her preen herself, letting feathers soften the nest up. It appeared to be only big enough for Harpy, he figured he'd be on gaurd outside of the cave most of the time, if not collecting food.

Looking into Harpy's eyes, "Are, you, uhm, ready?"

*Harpy drops a last, larger feather in the nest and turns to look at Kafka, who is disconcertingly looking into her eyes. She changes back to human form and shakes herself, several smaller feathers fall off her arms and onto the floor. Then looks at him again*

Kafka places the leafed branches up into the mouth of the cave, so that none could view what was going on within the cave.

Kafka steps towards Harpy.........

Kafka emerges from the cave as the next day begins to brighten across the lands of Blackstar. Moving the branches to one side, he looks just a little flustered, and exhausted.

Stifling a yawn, and stretching his body and his arms upwards, "I'm going to go and find a lake to wash in. I'll find us something to eat........"
