Loneliness...

[Till Doyle]

Till steps down outside of the door after Laur and pulls it towards him, closing it behind him. He hears it latch, but waits for Laur to lock it. As he does so, he takes his phone out of his pocket and flips it open. He rings a number briefly. but still holding the phone in front of him.

As he flips it to close it, he puts it back into his pocket, and a pristine silver car pulls up outside the house. Not quite a limo but larger and more spacious than a car. Almost a hybrid of the two, creating a corporate effect. The drivers door opens, the chauffeur steps out and opens the rear door.

The door opens unusually, instead of opening from the back, it opens adjacent to the drivers door, revealing a deluxe interior.

*Laur turns and locks her door, depositing the key in what appeared to be a fold of the dress, though it didn't jangle or give it's presence away afterwards*

*As she turns around however, she spots the large silver car and cannot stop the spread of a grin. So Till had planned something, well,this should be interesting*

*Laur, wondering what was awaiting her moved towards the car and got in carefully. She waited inside for Till, admiring the space and the luxury of the car*

Till climbs inside the car afterwards, sat opposite Laur. He waits for the driver to close the door and begin driving. The driver starts up the almost silent engine and proceeds to drive out of the quiet street.

Till opens a small chill cabinett and pulls out a bottle of Rhienessen Eiswien and two slim wine glasses. Placing them into stablised holders, he uncorks the bottle easily and pours it out, recorking the bottle afterwards and placing it back into the chiller.
Handing Laur a glass, he takes the other, and goes to clink them together, "In, celebrazion of your birthday. May you have many happy returnz."

*Laurs smile freezes, though it is soon replaced by a genuine one*

I'll settle for a few

*She sighs, holding up her glass and bringing it to her lips. The glass is soon lowered, after she's had a sip*

Do I get to know where we're going or is it a surprise?

Sipping the sweet white wine, he smiles, "Vell, it vould ruin vhat I have planned if I vere to tell you now vhere ve are going and vhat ve are to do, vouldn't it?"

Sitting back, he relaxes, "Zo, vhy iz your houze zo, modezt? I am zure I pay you vell enough to take good care of yourzelf. No?"

"Fair enough"

Laur says, sitting back into the comfort of the chair.

"I am not one for over-indulging myself, unless there is a reason for it"

It was a deliberate and obvious avoidance of the question, and Laur wondered whether Till would push any further.

"Hmm. However, comfort iz different to over-indulgenze. No? I confezz, my own quaterz are not grandioze. But, they are comfortable." Till takes another sip of the wine, relishing and savouring the taste.

Laur sips the wine out of her glass, deliberately slowly, thinking.

"That is true"

Laur lowers the glass, and sits a little straighter, looking directly at Till.

"I'm sure I could redecorate, buy more comfortable things and make it seem a little less modest, but I don't have the heart to"

Laur sighs, looking down.

"I tried once, but it reminds me too much of Leon. He used to always help with that"

"Ah. Yez. Leon. Zertainly an interezting caze zere. But, perhapz it iz bezt not to dwell too much on ze pazt. No? Iz zat vaht he vould have vanted for you? Or vould he expect you to ztrive onvards?"
Hiz look givez nothing away to the fact he knows of Leons whereabouts, and what really happened that day. A calling card for himself, should he ever need it.

Laur doesn't look at Till, this time looking out the window to avoid his gaze. Leon certainly wouldn't have wanted her to dwell on the past so much. But he'd have wanted her to not get involved with something like this. He'd have wanted her to refuse to work for someone like Till. And he'd definitely have wanted her to embrace her abnormality.

Now a god had told her he wasn't dead, and Laur seethed and struggled inside.

"He'd want me to move forwards... But, I cannot help it today. It's his birthday too"

This would be the first time Laur had ever mentioned that her brother was also her twin.

Till takes another sip. Long and slow this time. He knows everything there is too know, apart from Laur's private thoughts. He'd had to draft in another hive mind expert, although, this one was kept secure, and threat of death, along with gradual mind manipulation had ceded it to his control. Still, what ever personal thoughts some personnel had, others were banned from accessing them.
How would he go about finding out about her relationship with her twin, without being obvious? "How, did you two get along?"

"We were very close"

Laur allows a smile to show, as well a slight sparkle in her blue eyes that hadn't been there since before she'd known about Till.

"When you grow up with someone from birth, you can't help but be close. We did have our moments of drifting apart, but never for very long"

Laur takes another sip, her glass is about a quarter empty now.

"I could always tell when he was around. Of course, I know now there may be another reason for that...I can only imagine what he thinks of me if he's still alive"

Tills eyes flicker briefly as he thinks about the occasional talk he'd had with Laurs brother, Leon. "I am zure he iz very proud of your zuccezz. I certainly vould be if I vere him. Perhapz he'z even vatching over you? No?"

Just as he finishes his 'question', the car pulls over at the first destination for the day. "Ah, ve are here." The door is opened for Till to climb out, as he does, he waits, and offers his hand to Laur, so she could climb out aswell.
In front of them is what appers to be an upper-market building, three floors high, with respectable clientelle in expensive clothing.

"Perhaps"

Laur comments as she takes Tills proffered hand. As she stepped outside she made sure not to reveal anything that might just be beneath her dress on her right, instead initially stepping out with her left leg.

Laur admires the building and the guests, an outfit sometimes catching her eye.

"This is certainly a very glamorous place"

Laur commented appreciatively.
