On a rocky outcrop in the Evergreen Glades, not too far from the Central Plains, all was quiet. Maybe not so unusual in itself, rocky outcrops weren't known for their volume, unless they were in the process of collapsing, but this particular rocky outcrop had recently been the site of much activity, and consequently a good deal of noise as well.

Now the only exceptional feature of the outcropping was the elegant wooden lodge that now rested almost in the exact center ((Almost, because it was after all built largely by armadillos and, well, they're not exactly architechs)).
It looked a lot like the traditional hunters lodge. It also bore more than a passing resembelance to a house down the street from Katy ((Danikat's 'real' world counter-part)) which she happened to like. ((If I can be bothered I'll get a photo.))

Inside the lodge Danikat finally got the last picture to hang on its nail at the right angle and stepped back to look around. They had done a good job if she said so herself. The entrance lead into a large, stone floored ((Ok, no floored and built on rock Razz)) lounge with many comfortable sofas, rugs, the obilgatory roaring fire in a wide stone fireplace and all the other things someone who had never actually seen one believed a traditional lodge required, minus parts of dead animals hanging on the walls.

Around three sides there was a balcony, with stair cases in two corners leading up to it. Doors lead off this upper balcony into 6 bedrooms, for use by anyone who happened to be staying in the lodge overnight (Or wanted to sleep during the day). Because no one had set a budget, or other limitations, on the project each had its own en suit bathroom.
The lower floor had doors leading to what at first glace was a traditional martial arts dojo, but built to withstand, and test, all the super-natural, and super-technological, abilities common to the denizens of this world.

The other three doors on the lower floor lead into what appeared to be oblivion, they opened onto utterly black, empty space. They were free space, awaiting a purpose. ((In other words I'm sure I'll need more rooms later but I can't think of them right now so I'm leaving them blank.))

Satisfied that her project was complete Danikat added the final touch: a set of metal skewers, several packs of marshmellows, and out of respect for a strange American custom Katy had recently attempted to explain to her some chocolate and crackers, were laid out on the table in the center of the main room. A last glace to be sure the water for hot chocolate was boiling and all was ready.

***

If you've read all that then firstly congratulations. Secondly you'll probably have a reasonable idea what this place is.

For those of you with the sense to skip anything I write thats that long this is the actual dojo this board referes to. It looks like a lodge instead of a dojo because (as my Sims can tell you) I'm going through a 'lodges are cool' phase right now, and it fits the scenery.

But the point is to give those who feel they need more practice with their RP skills a place to do that.

The point of the lounge, marshmellows and hot chocolate (other than continuing the lodge theme) is that I'd like to start things off with a discussion of what exactly people feel they need to practice, then go from there.

So come on in, eat and drink hot sugar products and discuss the joys of learning things about stuff!

Goron stepped into the dojo, followed by Shadow. He looked around at the decoration.

"Um.. nice place you got here..." he said. "Beh," growled shadow in agreement.

"So teacher. Teach us things."

Following Goron and Shadow was Speeder and Jester. Jester was now a teenager, and another norn, Blaze the Magma Norn had come as well.

"Jester like Blaze." "Blaze like Jester."

Then they turned. "Jester like Teacher." "Blaze like Teacher."

Then they sat down. "Jester very patient." "Blaze very patient."

"Sorry," Speeder said as he sat down. "I guess that now Jester has someone his size and race he can talk to!"

Shadow snarled across the room.

"Me dislike blaze. Me dislike Jester."

No matter what my job description says I'm no teacher.

I want to know what you guys feel you're unfamilar with, what you'd like to learn, instead of just telling you.

This is what I was hoping we could use the training dojo for. So different people can spar with others, so they can exercise their characters so to speak, improve their roleplay abilities and maybe even develop sub-stories.

Who knows, some characters may go through a transformation...

So, if anyone wishes to spar or something, check out my link down there *points* and pm me to let me know. We'll start a thread up or something and roleplay a sparring match.

If anything, I'm hoping to create some enemies and some friends for my characters. It'll create interesting roleplays and revenge settings. (Everyone likes a little revenge, lol.)

GBE/Nate...

Thats an excellent idea. My only request would be that if you wish to fight you take it out of the lounge. Either use the training room or take advantage of one of the free rooms if you'd like a more interesting landscape.

((In other words feel free to spar, or whatever (not all RPing has to be fighting y'know), but not in this topic. I'd really like to keep this topic free for people to discuss things they feel they need practice with, or to request sparing partners. Maybe even politely suggest ways other people could improve.

The training room I mentioned in the first post can be considered your typical practice dojo, with basic weapons, training dummies, mats, padded walls etc. The other rooms can be considered areas of infinate free space (think Star Trek holo decks). If you want to practice something that doesn't really fit with being in a practice room you can use them by starting a topic and describing the setting you're using.))

I'm not normally one to pick on peoples grammar or spelling or anything like that. Partially because I know mine is far from perfect and partially because I tend to assume other people have an easier time reading stuff than I do.

But since you asked I'd say the most important thing you can do is to use paragraphs. If you write everything as one big block of text it gets very hard to read. Spacing things out a bit makes it much clearer, esspecially when RPing.

Its also worth taking the time to just re-read your post before you hit submit to see if theres any obvious mistakes that need changing. Like confusing typos (personally I'm not too bothered about stuff like teh or yuo but when its a longer word it can be hard to figure out) or where you've missed spaces out.

I don't know about anyone else but personally I'm not bothered about things like capital letters or saying don't instead of dont.

Thank you Danikat... Will you listen to her Somefreak? Because I've been telling you this in the Corporate Expansion thread, and you have yet to heed my word...
