A place to talk about topics in The Archives.
Why?
Because I wanna talk about them.
Just re-reading the first Forum Wars, and I can't believe how much power-playing is going on at the start. People grabbing weapons from no where, weapons that instantly do vast amounts of damage without giving the other person a chance to defeand themselves. Damage which is then shaken off as if its nothing for no good reason at all.
Were we really ever that bad? And why didn't it bother us?
On a completely unrelated note I love the old 'What if we all lived in the same house?' RP as well.
When did RPing become all about fighting? We should do something like that again... _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

Yes. People think that RP is a life of adventure, every second is a journey.
Believe me, it's not. I'd absolutely love to see a RP where I could rant on and on about my creations.
Heck, I'd love to do that now. _________________ Shaon Galatea -- Artist | Musician | Radio DJ | Voice Actor | Writer |

As long as I'm not forced to read it go for it.
I was planning on starting a non-violent RP as soon as I could think of something original. But if someone wants to do the work for me I won't complain.
Oh and I just got a message informing me that there were so many spelling mistakes in the Forum Wars topic the computer was unable to continue displaying them all (I know what you're thinking, I wish I was joking) and that if I wanted to see them I'd have to click on the spelling and grammar tool. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

I've only ever participated seriously in RPs about fighting, I don't know how I'd do in a non-fighting one... Well, I've given it a shot at least, the settlement RPs seem pretty interesting, for now I've picked the one in The Wilds.

Hm... This has given me an interesting idea, but I'm not quite sure how it'll work out. Guess I'll wait and see.
EDIT: There we go, check out "Meeting of the Minds", and rant to as much as you like. The ultimate idea is to discuss though, so try not to make it too long |

I hope there are lots and lots of RP's in the archives, soon! I was thinking, though, normally, when a forum RP is running, it's really hard for some people to join in if the RP has been going on for a while, because all the nessessary information (Where everyone is, what everyone looks like, and the major plot points) is all buried in pages and pages of posts. Too bad there isn't some way to make a summary of a RP so that it would be easier for new players to jump in. Erg, there I go rambling again. Apologies. _________________

Actually Embri thats a really good idea.
Including where people are and what they're doing might be a little hard but maybe we could start a policy of having the first post edited periodically to include everyones profiles (or links to their profiles, to save on length) and a general overview of important events that have changed the battlefield/rules/space-time continuum.
Sort of a short review of the topic so people only have to read the last page or two to find out whats going on at that precise moment before they join in. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

That's exactly what I was thinking, but you said it better! *grins*
When I first joined a real RP, (My first was EC. vs Gameware, page 102) it took simply FOREVER to read through the previous pages. I'm glad I did, but it was a long trek, and I'm a very fast reader. In particular, I wasn't sure where to find descriptions of the participating characters, so I messed up on some of the posts that involved other people and places.
Oh, and by "where everyone is" I meant the setting of the RP, not really everyone's precise location. That would be impossible to keep up to date. _________________

Is Vromoth a good name? *Looks cheesy*
I was lucky with EC vs. GW I was in at the start, one of the first. |

I know what you mean, I keep getting really confused too and thinking it's a typo before realising what a mammary I've just been... _________________

It is rather amusing that you both happened to pick similar names, I'll assume independently. Ah well, it's a bit late to be going and changing now, isn't it? _________________

You know whats stranger?
Torene's queen was called Alaranth. And I had no idea until after I'd come up with the name Alzaranth!
But I still have the peice of paper I used to work out dragon names (turned out the other side was my bank statement, oops) so if anyone accusesme of copying I can show them. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

On the note of the Archives, I'm still looking for a Moderator for the archives, which does not mean what normal moderatorship normally means. To be the Mod of the Archives means you will go out and change RP's into a txt document, then send that txt file to me to upload and post.
Don't worry, I will be doing my fair share of that too.... _________________

I might be interested in doing something like that DP, given my frequent large amounts of free time (I'm an arts student at uni, those who know what that is will get what I mean ). |
