3kul gets a forum!

So my rich uncle Boris died recently and it seems that he's left me a forum in his will. The only catch is that I have to spend one night within it's walls...

Well that's not quite how it happened, but I have recently acquired a forum to call my own. The guy previously running it was too busy with real life stuff (final years of college, I'm sure that some of you know what that's like), and so as the most active user (and thanks to a bit of support from another staff member), I've become Head Admin.

Now the site needs a bit of explaining because it's not very similar to Blackstar at all. To start with, the place is called Haysu, and it's a site solely dedicated to Pokemon roleplaying. People join up with a character as a trainer (human only, sorry ), get a starter pokemon and begin their journey. A journey is a private RP in which you make a post, then wait for a judge to make the next one. I imagine it's something like what the Pumpkin Patch is meant to be, though it's run with a bit of a stricter set of rules.

Wow really awesome. The starter table, as you said in the shout box, is gone.Also, if you can, almost all of your pictures click back to photobucket, i think it might be better if they remained un-clickable, as it makes it much easier to navagate the site without ending up somewhere else.
Other than that, I can't wait for the board to open up,(or maybe it is and i can't find it ) and the rest of the info. I will for sure be joining this one.

Yeah, the photobucket pics have always been like that, I'm not sure how to fix that myself but you can bet that I'll be telling somebody else to get on that

As for the table, it used to be just a plain list, then tanz (one of the staff members) decided that it'd be better as a table. It does look better as a table, but obviously not when it's broken like this EDIT: I've temporarily replaced the broken table with a picture of a table, nobody will suspect a thing

We're a little low on staff actually (as well as members - due to mass inactivity from just about everybody over the past couple of months >_>), so I might take you up on your offer there CP.

Currently aiming for a Nov. 11th re-opening at the latest, but we'll see how that pans out.

And thanks for the offer of help Intyalle, but we're kinda looking for people who are up to scratch on their pokemon stuff. We need judges (essentially storytellers who post in other people's journeys, don't know why we call them judges because they don't technically 'judge' anything ) more than anything atm.

I suppose I should give an example of the kind of RPing that we do at Haysu. The following is a small excerpt from my own journey, towards the end of a battle that I was about to lose when I am saved by a mysterious stranger and his fiery Quilava (looks like a weasel, but on fire). My pokemon is Shellos (because nothing says 'manly' like a pink sea slug ), and I'm fighting a wild Sentret (imagine a hybrid of a meerkat and a raccoon and you're pretty close):

So a "Judge" as you put it, decides on if you captured said pokemon, and helps the story move along?
Am I right?

Like I said, the position is called 'Judge', but you aren't really 'judging' too much. The Judge basically decides the outcome of your actions in a fair and logical manner - for example, if I were to throw a pokeball at a pokemon with full health, a good judge would tell me that I just wasted a pokeball (if they mess up though and allow something like that odds are another judge will pick up on it).

It doesn't just apply to pokemon though, if I punched a random townsperson in the face, odds are the judge isn't just going to let that slide, and the townsperson will probably react to being punched - they could punch me back, call for help, surrender their wallet, it's all up to the Judge!

Oh, a bit of an important note though, Judges control just about everything except for your character. They may dictate if your pokemon gets injured in battle but they can't say 'a tree falls and crushes your leg' - they have to say 'a tree is falling towards you' and wait for you to react, as we'd do here.

Judges might control an awful lot in other people's journeys, but in their own journeys they have to get another judge to work on it for them (so you don't get any kind of cheat's benefits from being a judge ).

All starters are at lvl 5, and they can only be chosen once. We usually let people pick an egg move as well. Once most of them have been chosen and it's obvious that people are hanging out for more we'll make a new starter list.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, personalities are actually personalities, they don't necessarily mean that any stats are going to be higher or lower.
