Some Sparring Practice

[Mitsukai]

A scowl passed briefly over Eve's normally pleasant face.

Where is he...?

Her emerald eyes gazed around in search of her mysterious opponent and found nothing but weathered stone and scattered shrubbery in the midsts of them. The trees were sparse, and the sky was wonderfully clear. It was interesting that he had requested her to come to these abandoned ruins for sparring, and she could not help but wonder who he was.

She would find out soon enough.

As the sun slowly began making its descent, the late afternoon breeze caused the hems of her midnight cloak to dance about. Dressed in her usual traveling attire with weapons at their proper places, she felt ready for the session ahead.

With nothing else to do in terms of preperation, she merely waited for her opponent to come.

Lunagon carefully walked through the ruins, looking for the person he was to square off with.

Inwardly, he cursed it being daytime, nighttime would've made this battle much easier. But then again, his point was not to actually win, it was to make it out alive. That guided him through a lot of fights.

As of yet, he didn't see his foe. Just who was this person, anyway?

Who cares? Let's get this over with! a voice in the back of his mind hissed. Lunagon was asking himself too many questions to pay attention to it.

Eventually, he answered most of those to a point, and drew the Night Slasher.

Wait a minute. Why am I drawing this thing when I don't even see where my foe is?

Graah, another question. Fortunatly enough, this one was easily answered-Lunagon spotted something dark blue through the crumbling edifices.

Here we are....

Being very careful to remain silent, Lunagon started to stalk towards his foe.

Whee.. I'm already seeing an improvement from the last time we trained together. The posts are more descriptive.. and can be more so still. What does this Night Slasher look like? So on and so forth. Description makes the whole roleplay more enjoyable.

Tip? Pretend that the other person knows nothing about your character. A bit of explaining doesn't hurt.

The sound of a blade being drawn brought Nynaeve our of her searching reverie. Twirling around, she came face to face with her opponent.

"Hmm.. a sneak attack? That's not very polite... especially since I came all the way out here just for you.." she mused out loud with a quirky smile, her hands reaching for the fans tucked into her belt.

Taking this opportunity to its fullest, she examined the newcomer from head to toe. He appeared rather normal- around her age... until she noted the tips of fangs peeking out, the pointed ears, and sharp claws.

Not so normal after all...

((Well, The Night Slasher has a black blade, a white hilt with a ruby at the end of it. The blade is rectangular shaped with a triangular end, and the blade is 3/4ths as long as a normal sword. I should put that in his character profile-which got an improvement, by the way.))

Snap!

Lunagon remained speechless for a couple seconds. That was one idea out. The other options?

First off, he inspected his foe: normal human female, it seemed, a couple of years older than him. Didn't seem to have half-vampire heritage like himself.

Then after his inspection (and not saying anything), he quickly sheathed the Night Slasher, and brought out the 4-foot long Staff of Darkness, and held it in such a way so he'd be ready to block his opponent's attack-who, he decided, would have the first move.

"Not much of a talker are you..?" she commented wryly, retaining a neutral battle stance. Her eyes made its way from tip to tip of the staff he had just drew out, noting that he had taken a defensive one.

Hmm.. he's waiting for me to attack first...

Almost nonchalantly, she crossed her arms and placed her hands on either hip where she knew the fans were.

Lunagon again said nothing. Why waste energy on speaking?

Anticipating the upcoming attack, his grip on the staff tightened, very nearly puncturing his own palms with his claws. He knew he had to be ready to defend himself.

At the same time he kept a wary eyeball on the sun's position in the sky. To him, if it was day or night could mean the diffrence between winning and suffering a humilating defeat.

She sighed, admitting to defeat in terms of getting a response from him.

A bit rude much..?

Deciding that two could play at this game, she fell silent as well, just watching him.

Why does he keep looking at the sun..?

Maybe part vampire, she finally decided on. If so... he wouldn't like this very much...

Changing plans, she drew her hands away from her fans and instead placed them behind her back in a cupped shape while taking a step towards him. It began as a small pinprick of light before expanding and growing to the point where it seemed as if the sun was directly behind her.

Knowing that it would be mere seconds before the light began retreating, she moved towards him while drawing out her fans in a single fluid movement. With no time to waste, she left them in their unfurled state and used them as daggers instead.

What the farg...

Lunagon was confused, and next to blind. This woman apparently was a light magician, which to him was a really big threat.

No matter-he could just see his foe was beginning to attack. Holding the Staff of Darkness with his right hand, he dropped to all fours, standing cat-like on the ground. Hopefully, in addition to avoiding serious damage, he would manage to trip Eve as well.

Shoot!

His sudden change in position ruined her initial plans. Realizing that trying to stop would be pointless because the momentum of her speed would still propel her, she pushed her feet into the ground and flipped over him instead.

Not wanting to become vulnerable with her back to him, she tucked her head in when she landed on the ground and did a forward somersault in order to get some distance away from him.

Lunagon watched as his opponent somersaulted away from him after doing some sort of fancy flip over him.

Now it's MY turn...

He moved quickly away, still on all fours like a stalking cat. During this, he gauged distance between himself and his foe. His attack would need to be far enough to give it a fair chance of hitting, yet close enough to stay in range.

Not the least bit dizzy from the somersault, she remained crouched down. She looked up to see that she had managed to land near one of the stone ruins. Standing up, she ducked behind it before beginning to plan a new attack.

Lunagon stood up, only to see his opponent had disappeared.

Okay, that's irritating, he thought as his silvery orange eyes scanned the area.

Also, it meant his plan was a bit ruined. There's no point in casting Shadow Die if you can't see your foe. And he wasn't about to waste valueable magic power in trying to hit a foe when he didn't know where said foe was.

He looked at the sun again. Seeing as it had not changed its position much since the fight started.

Getting back to the task at hand, he continued looking for his foe. Still, where she was he wasn't able to tell.

((You've used "foe" four times... maybe try using different words to switch it up a bit? Also, I believe that valueable is spelt valuable...

Leaning with her back to the worn stone, she sighed.

What to do now...

It would do no good for her to stay here like a mouse waiting to be hunted. She needed to get out into a more strategic position.

Reaching back, she pulled the hood of her cloak onto her head. Then she used her hands to keep the cloak closed. Anyone watching would have thought that she had disappeared for the cloak now made her invisible.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped away from the wall. Knowing that sudden movements might give away her position, she moved slowly and tried to locate her opponent.

Lunagon thought he heard some rocks move, but dismissed it. His mind was too occupied with coming up with a plan rather then realize it might have been the challenger.

After a few moments, he had one.

Putting the Staff of Darkness back in its rightful place, he drew out his scimitar gunblade, the Moon Glinter. Crouching down, he opened the back of it up and began to load it with its projectiles, which resembled crosses between blowgun darts and traditional bullets.

There!

Finally spotting her opponent underneath the hood of her cloak, she realized that just randomly throwing off her invisible protection and attacking him would not be very effective.

She needed to get more into position.. especially with him loading up some sort of contraption.

Whispering an incantation, she coaxed the water vapour in the air to condense- therefore creating a bit of a fog engulfing the immediate area. This fog would allow her to move quicker since the lack of visibility would negate the extra movement, and it would lessen his accuracy in shooting.

She could still see his outline quite clearly for the fog was not that dense, and with the plan in check, she moved closer towards him.
