This is a Duel thread between myself and TiChei, feel free to watch from the sidelines but do not interfere you you have us BOTH on your asses *smiles cheerfully* clear?
the arena is a mock mountain side, no vegetation, strewn with boulders and a couple of scree slopes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Angel stands at the edge of the arena and maps the terrain in her head, she glances back to where Zed is leaning against a boulder in a bit of shelter from the wind. he smiles at he and she turns back to the area they have agreed on.*
Wulf! I formally challenge you to a duel, first blood wins, what say you?
*she shouts over the high altitude winds towards the were-wolf opposite her* _________________ The Deadly Donkey:
*Wulfric raised his head to the sky and howled in reply*
I accept thy challenge Angel, and I shall test thine undead abilties against my fangs.
*He slid his feet apart over the rocky surface, his stance became more balanced. He pointed at Angel*
Come then Angel, come and dance with me, because you are a female do not think I shall hold back. I will allow you the first move, 'tis only fair.
*He smiled mockingly at her, but without malice* |
come now! you underestimate me, Wolfling! I would be shamed if you held back and there are no first "moves" in a fight, only advantage and disadvantage. Ikkoi!
*she draws her twin blades over her shoulders and leaps nimbly over the boulders, watching for lose rocks and scree. she clamps her wings against her back until she is meters away from him the flicks them to catch the wind and she is pulled violently sideways to attack from the side instead of the front, where her original charge would have struck*
*He puzzled as to the last word she had shouted, but had little time for that, she came at him. Twin blades in hand, he shifted one foot backwards so that he was facing her frontal assault from the side*
Foolish, foolish, stupi...
*His eyes widened with shock, her wings had spread and pulled her to the side, no longer did she come at him from the front. His eyes flickered to look at her. He tensed, this would be close. Her attack now came from the side, the largest area of him. He placed his back foot on a loose rock, and then let it slide. His foot shot out from underneath him and he slipped downwards performing the splits, her attack narrowly missing his head*
Clever, I did underestimate you woman, but no more. There will be no next time for you, I shall win.
*He rolled away from and convulsed, his chest pressed into the air and a howl of agony burst from his lips. His skin began to crawl, change, his face changed, his entire body shifted. A moment later in the place of the man was a large white wolf a growl eminated from it's throat as it looked at her with his golden eyes, his muscles tensed in preparation* |
*she uses her wings to keep the weight she puts on the sliding ground to a minimum and pushes back away from him. long term close combat will be difficult on this terrain she evaluates tactics quickly as the slide apart.
its her turn for her eyes to go wide as he convulses. it only takes a moment for her to take advantage of his "down time" and she bears down on him for a sweep and his legs. this being a duel she tries to avoid deadly strokes, going for shallow cuts or using the flats.*
next time, no time, *she smiles at him in those flashing moments as his skin crawls and she is almost diving towards him* _________________ The Deadly Donkey:
*He had seen her out of the corner of his eyes, which is why he had tensed. But perhaps not soon enough, no matter what he couldn't allow his blood to be spilled. Her blade is coming down where his legs had been, but he wasn't as long. He needed to move only ever so slightly, if she got in too close this duel would be over, her advantage was reach.*
*His bunched legs muscles released, sending him flying over the rocky terrain, barely touching the ground as he moved away from her. He tried to stop and hit the floor on all fours, however his momentum carried him over and he tumbled down a scree slope. Nothing he could do about it, he let out a small yelp of pain followed by a whimper and then stood*
*He stared up the slope, perhaps it could be to his advantage. However this was not his natural terrain, his thoughts moved slowly as he looked up the slope. The only advantage was if he could somehow get her to move so quickly that she came with pouncing range of him and without her guard up. He snarled and waited silently at the bottom, simply staring upwards, perfectly still as the wind blew* |
(( nah, its informal and we didn't want a judge but here's fine, i dont realy mind ^_^))
*she halts at the top of the scree slope, twin blades held defensively, and looks down. amongst the sliding stone he is easy to pick out but she doesn't follow him down, he would have time to ready not matter how fast she goes now so she waits a little longer for all the stone to settle again.
she spots a large boulder, half buried in the ground, about fifteen yards down and to her left. the wind is coming up the slope from the right so all she has to do is fly across wind and down. as she takes off the stones shift and pitch her into the wind at the wrong angle but she pulls herself aright soon enough to land squarely on the top of the platform like boulder.
a small patch of smooth round pebbles on the top makes her grin. With the tip of her boots she flings one into the air and sends it flying towards the wolf in a little capsule of blue fire* _________________ The Deadly Donkey:
*His eyes followed her, the fool was coming down and infact she seemed to have stumbled in the wind. He raised his head and sniffed the air, he had momentarily given up looking at her thinking it over. Too late, he smelt it first, then heard it, the faint crackling and then the movement of the air as it rapidly tried to escape the moving object. His head whipped round to look at her, he let out a low growl and then a yelp, the flaming stones hit him straight on his side.*
*The wind rushed from his lungs as he was catapulted from his feet. Luckily the fire had only briefly touched him and not set him on fire, but it hurt,m pain racked through his body, if it had hit slightly lower ribs would have been broken. He skitted across the floor on his side, the stones tearing clumps of hair from his coat. He howled in agony and fear entered his eyes, as he squirmed around on the floor, eventually righting himself. He stared up at her defiantly.*
*His ears twitched and he snarled, no time to think now, soon it would be over, he could not risk waiting. He could not fight that kind of magic for long, nor could he risk another hit like that, it might draw blood. His tongue slipped around his lips and he tongued one sharp tooth. His legs bunched, he moved, springing forward, up the slope towards her, directly at her.* |
*She grins at the stone hits but it turns into a grimace as it becomes obvious that there is no blood. Since her aim is not damage but blood she abandons the small bowl of stones. Curiously she also sheaths her twined blades and draws a plain length of black stone, glassy as if melted and made solid again, and holds it like you you would a bull whip.
The reason for this soon becomes apparent as a long snake of jagged black light jets out of it and coils on the stone. This is a new weapon and where better than to test it than here, where her life is not on the line. she cracks it experimentally and a small boulder has a line scored across it.
His movement catches her eye and she spins round to face him more directly. Its an unfamiliar stance to her, her weight on her right foot and her arm out to one side. she brings the whip whistling round in a continuous circle around her, ready to crack out once he's close enough, a front on attack on this would be foolish so she watches carefully to see what he does* _________________ The Deadly Donkey:
*His eyes narrow as she creates a new weapon, a new surprise. Did it have limits? What would happen should he touch it? He began to slow, she began to spin the whip around her. He let out a questioning growl and cocked his head as he came to a halt.*
*She was defending herself, defending...he couldn't get past that defence, even an ordinary whip could draw blood...and that one looked far from ordinary. He suddenly looked right, another slope going up...perhaps he could find away to lure her on a chase...a chase where he would really be the hunter and she the prey, though he must make it seem otherwise*
*He wheeled suddenly and broke off at a fast lope towards the slope, he quickly scrambled the scree slope trying to touch the slope as little as possible but stones still slid down behind him. He creasted the slope and turned back to look at her, raising his head he let out a piercing howl to sound the start of the hunt and disappeared over the ridge running over the flat top of the rock, towards a small outcrop of large boulders.* |
*She grins with satisfaction, it seems that the whip has had the desired affect, and follows his movements, keeping facing him front on the whole time. she clicks her tongue in annoyance as he begins to run.
she has no trouble keeping up on the uphill run, the wind is perfect, but once they reach the ridge it begins to work against her and she has to fly at a sharp angle to keep on the straight. she manages to gain enough distance to bring her whip to bear nonetheless.
she cracks it towards his hocks and brings the sharp jagged edges of the whip to bear.* _________________ The Deadly Donkey:
*He heard her wings as she gave chase. He couldn't smell her, he was at several disadvantages now. He was reacting to her for the moment, he could rely only on his ears and even they were unreliable because of the way the wind roared. He pushed himself harder, she was keeping up, nay gaining on him. He moved quicker stretching his speed to it's limits.*
*He didn't hear it, he couldn't smell that smell of satisfaction that the body released before an attck, he couldn't see it and he couldn't taste it. But he could feel it, something deep within him screamed to move. That sense which is a constant companion in battle, the one that surpasses all others and is often the reason for survival, that sixth sense. He wheeled, the whip came shooting towards him, his eyes widened with sudden concern.*
*She was this close? No time for the hunt, no time for tricks, that whip would end this duel. He closed his eyes in acceptance of his defeat, he felt the whip touch him, he felt it hit his left thigh. A small whimper escaped from his mouth, pain flooded through him, he opened his eyes and swung his head to look where the whip had hit. He saw the first tinge of red, then more, it trickled out of a small wound. He raised his head and howled in frustration, if this had been a battle to the death or submission...perhaps he could've one, but the simple matter of reach and speed this time had been his downfall, he had not counted all the factors in his thoughts...and her speed surprised him, he let one golden eye wander to look at her and he waited, patiently* |
*she pulls the whip back when she feels the hit and circles around him until that mournful howl and a spreading red patch signals his defeat. she grins and swoops down windward and lands near him.*
*He stared at her for a few moments more, his skin began to crawl once more. He growled as the hair began to recede. His body convulsed and he was flipped onto his back, a howl of agony burst from his lips and that shifted to a less bestial howl and that of a human. He fell silent, his chest heaved and fell heavily, he gasped for breath.*
Ah, it has been too long since I have fought someone so strange so unlike the normal humans who fall beneath my fangs.
*His hand slid down to his left thigh and plumbed the wound as he sat up, he winced slightly. Then turned to look at her*
It is nothing, I shall live and survive. I am fine. And I take it you are? Unless your feathers being ruffled hurts? |
