As you know, I have long wanted to back up a significant portion of Gameware's RP's into our archives.

Well, Lisa has announced plans to move the forums to a new server, with no guarentee content will transfer. So I am officially pushing the "panic" button. Well, not so much, but still...

Actually the process is already started, and so far everything looks good for preserving content.

But I don't like scares. Soo.......

I have set the Archives to allow everyone to post to it. But now I need the Blackstar to gather together as a team to archive.

How do you archive? Your part is easy. Kind of. Go to Gameware, and find an RP you wish to save. Then go to the archives and reserve it by posting an archive entry minus the link to the material. If you need an idea of how to do that, look at entries already posted. IF it's already being preserved, move on to another RP, or ask the person doing it how you can help.

Then go back to the RP, and copy the "Printer friendly version" to a document. I personally would prefer a txt document, seeing that can be opened in a web browser, but that comes with a lot of editing to get it to look right, so I'll accept word documents too. Once you have the entire RP archived into a file, send it to me at Dark.Psycho@gmail.com I'll upload it to the server and edit your entry to add the link.

All of your help is most appreciated in this effort. IF people wish to start at A2K, that too is fine by me.

Too bad there isn't some kind of list to tell us what's already been archived...

Sorry for double posting, but I got an suggestion. How about we put the printer version of the RPGs in the Archive? It will be usefull for these few resons:

1. If something goses curropt with the file(s), we can make new files by going to the archive and copy 'n paste them

2. If DP goses on vaction, something happens to his computer, etc. We can put the thread up on GW oure selves.

etc. so it would be a good idea.

Edit: that dosn't mean you shouldn't save them to files though. I mean, what if somthing happens over here at the Dojo?

Ok, chances are people already know this, but I'll post about it anyway as it makes archiving much easier on the GW forums.

Go into the thread that you wish to archive, then click 'thread tools' and 'printable version'. You can then just copy and paste the contents of the thread straight to word, without having avatars, sigs, or other unessecary stuff getting in the way. At the bottom of the page in printable version, there's an option to display 40 posts per page, making the job even easier.

Here's a pic in case you can't find where I'm talking about.

I think I will archive Village Invaded, when it's over. The RPG's almost finshed... AND THEN THERE'S ANOTHER ONE, IN THE NEXT GENERATION!

EC vs GW archived! I will keep it up to date.

Only problem is I can't post it without making a new topic...
