The wolf's attempts to scare the already petrified Lord had evidently worked, as he fell backwards and began crawling away backwards. This caused a huge surge backwards, and a lot of screaming in the crowd that Iman was hiding among. The noise was almost enough for the sound of Allasan admonishing the wolf to be drowned out, but not quite.

And whilst this was happening, people towards the back of the crowd seemed to be distracted by something completely different. Iman began looking around to find what had caused people to take their eyes off of a delirious leader of their realm, and found it as he saw a man who appeared to be from Earth - the land to the east of his homeland known as Japan to be precise - skidding down a wall and landing amongst them.

He could only have been following me, Iman thought, luckily for me, though, he has a thing or two to learn about stealth.

Using the series of distractions to his advantage, Iman walked through where the hysterical crowd were heaviest, making sure to keep out of the man's line of sight, simultaneously moving through the crowd closer to him. When he'd gotten level to the Japanese man, Iman simply held one of his throwing daggers to his side at his hip and pushed it hard enough for him to feel it, but not enough to draw blood.

Speaking calmly, in a conversational but hushed tone, Iman said, "That, my friend is how to sneak up on someone. Please don't cause a scene... these people are frightened enough as it is. I just thought I'd let you know I noticed you... so as you seem to be following me, why not tell me how I may help you".

"I don't need much help, I'm just blending in like the rest of the crowd. As I can see you're trying to get to someone, so go ahead." He said hushed. "And with all this commotion nobody noticed me." He whispered, rubbing his hip slightly and kneeling down to tie his sandals tighter. "Oh fine they saw me, but it wasn't the noise so much as the sight." He sighed, and ran off into the Dojopolis, THIS time, unnoticed.

((Tokugawa you may want to re-think that post. It was clearly stated that a large section of the crowd did notice you, as I'd imagine any crowd of people would notice someone leaping between roof tops and down a vertical wall right beside them.))

The four foot tall white wolf's ears twitched slightly as he heard first the cries of the Lord, that something was burning him that couldn't be seen, and something to do with scales? Then he turned slightly towards the mage again, he seemed to be the only one of the pathetic crowd that wasn't screaming after his brief fun with their leader. If the physical body he inhabited possessed the ability to roll its eyes, Lykaios probably would have.

'Friends?' Lykaios thought, turning his head so he could rest one of his intelligent yellow eyes on the half human and the... thing next to her. 'I don't have any friends...'

Suddenly this crisis didn't seem so interesting anymore, not now a possible assassination attempt had been mentioned. Classic political manouvre he'd watched pulled off before, but that didn't explain why anyone would want to do away with the leader of a worthless farming community... on second thought this might be worth the time to investigate.

"What's in it for us if we help you?" he asked, sure that they'd try to get away with not offering anything in compensation and ignoring the hysterical crowd.

"I don't need much help, I'm just blending in like the rest of the crowd. As I can see you're trying to get to someone, so go ahead," said the man. Iman took the blade from the man's hip and started making his way back into the crowd to continue eavesdropping on the conversation between Allasan and the human female. The Japanese man was muttering something to him, but Iman was already too busy concentrating on the two he originally had his sights set on.

Incredibly arrogant man, Iman thought to himself, I'd heard that the warriors from the East were men of honour. He shook the thought from his mind however, as there were far more important matters.

The Lord was screaming something about scales and fire by the time Iman had returned, and Allasan speaking... he didn't catch the beginning of what he said, "...snake we believe. A fire viper they're commonly called in these parts. It's poison is slow acting but dramatic, as you can see for yourself. Clearly this was a deliberate attack on m'lord as fire vipers are not found in these parts. However whilst the person, or persons responsible must of course be found it is more important to find a cure. Something you and your strange friends might be able to help me with."

This did surprise Iman. He didn't trust Allasan any more than trusted any politician, but he did seem to be genuinely concerned about the well-being of his Lord. Making a quick decision, Iman decided to keep track of any who agreed to the task Allasan had suggested. Of course, if Allasan was to blame, there'd always be time to come back and do what needed to be done.

Allasan was somewhat suprised by the wolf's question. He hadn't expected an animal, even a talking animal to be concerned about rewards and compensation. But he recovered quickly. "Of course," he said smoothly, "I'm sure we can find a reward suited to your tastes. Should you seek material wealth we have quite a significant sum of money avaliable, and of course I have magicks I can grant you if you so wish. Prehaps even some items considered exotic even in your lands. The choice will be yours, within reason, once you bring back the item I need."

Here he paused, appearing to consider his next words carefully. "You see what I need is an object known as the Silver Serpent. It appears to be nothing more than a particularly ornate paperweight but in fact it is an enchanted item capable of curing the venom of any reptile. Inevitably such an item is of great interest to collectors and currently resides in the possession of a great golden dragon named Rudgath who lives near a volcano in an area I believe you call the Black Forest. I would like you, one of you or all of you, to get it for me."

((And I'll throw in a free hint: Remember this is a DnD dragon you'll be dealing with. There are both easy and hard ways to get it and its entirely up to you which you choose.))

Allasan hesitated to answer the wolf's question...

Iman smiled inwardly. A simple item fetch quest with a reward of anything I want? There has to be more to it than that

Sure enough, there was, as Allasan finally gave details of what this quest would entail.

Great, Iman thought, annoyed with himself for even beginning to believe this quest could be that easy. He didn't know much of these dragons, but he did know they could be viscious if angered. Very well... someone else could do the work, and I could take the credit.

Iman allowed himself to smile inwardly once more as he made his decision. He'd follow whoever accepted this mission, and he'd steal the Silver Serpent once it has been retrieved by one of them and take the reward. Part of him hated the idea of doing this, but another part of him knew that he needed currency in this world and he'd have to resort to dishonesty in order to get it. After all, it's not like he'd have to kill any innocents... he hoped.

"Any distinguishing marks or looks to this paperweight?" the white wolf asked as his yellow eyes continued to appraise Allasan. Ornate paperweight wasn't exactly a very descriptive term, and if this dragon was a collector the immortal imagined he'd have more than one magical item.

It would seem Lykaios had decided looking for this item was enough to hold his interests, for now at least.

"I'm afraid I have not seen it myself. But I am told it is an extremely life-like silver snake, about this long," he pauses to hold his hands out, about 20cm appart, "It has amethysts for eyes and most report claim the play of light across it almost makes it look as if it's moving, as if it's alive."

He appeared to be done, but then as an after thought added, "And believe me, the dragon will know what it is. They keep very careful stock of their belongings, dragons."

The crowd around them seemed to have edged closer now, less frightended since the strage new arrivals had done nothing to hurt them and eager to find out what would happen.

"So," Allasan asked in his most serious tone, "Will you help us?"

Lykaios seemed to think for a moment, tilting his head slightly as wolves will do when considering something new they'd just come across. He could spread out his glow and just drain the vilagers so add to his powers, but learning a new one was far more appealing to him. Besides, if he did that he might bring unwanted attention to himself, and he still had his revenge to pursue afterwards. He might even go and have a look for these strange snakes later, since their poison caused such amusement to him and confusion to them.

"... Alright" Lykaios said eventually, beginning to make his way to leave "I'll get this trinket back"
