RP Articles on Creatures Wiki

After a heated debate, we established a new RP Policy at the Creatures Wiki. This new policy requires that RP materials on the Wiki pertain to Creatures in some way, and have sources showing that it is an important part of the CC as a whole, not just a small subsection of it. This has been a couple months, now, and so far, no change has been made to the articles marked as failing to meet the new policy. If this continues for another couple of days, I will remove said articles.

Hence, this is a warning: If you have anything on the Creatures Wiki that is not creatures-related and that doesn't mean much to the community at large, I advise you to save it down now before it is deleted (this will probably happen by tomorrow evening at the latest!) I will, after that time, give you the contents of any page that has been deleted upon request, but I will not restore them to the wiki. And please, people, don't act like this is a big shock this time like you did last time; the new policy has been featured prominantly in the header of each page for months now, and no one has raised any objections to it.

Thanks for your time, and I apologize for interrupting here to bring this information to you. I am only hoping to avoid a large-scale flamewar much like what I triggered last time.

Fortt, Danikat and TheDarkPsycho are an important part of CC history. Fort played a huge role in the Forum Wars, which is hardly a negligible facet of CC history, and Danikat and TheDarkPsycho also had a sizable influence in that RP. It'd be a shame to anyone who wanted to study the CC's rich roleplaying history if their characters were not preserved on the wiki. At the very least, you should give the article's owners time to migrate the contents to Blackstar and keep a link on-site.

I agree, although my profile has already been copied to the Blackstar wiki in full. I don't mind if you take mine down, but could you please give a deadline for everyone else to get their profiles saved elsewhere?

Well my profile is already on the Blackstar wiki.

To be honest I've pretty much lost all interest in the Creatures Wiki lately, so its hard for me to care what they do and do not consider "important" enough to allow space for. The only practical use I ever found for it was looking up breeds and its so much easier to do that through peoples personal websites.

Interesting turn of events you got going for the Creatures Wiki, what's next, the creature's forum? That certainly seems to need more work done to it IMO.

We're not attacking the Creatures Wiki for it's choice to chronicle only data relating to the Creatures games. We speciallize in roleplaying, and many of us originated in the CC, so of course we would prefer that the Wiki chronicled our exploits along with those of cobblers and breeders, but we should have voiced our disagreement sooner, and besides which most of our RPing isn't really related to Creatures at all. We have Blackstar Wiki for RP profiles now, which is probably the better place for them, so it's better that we do a full migration (which, really, is already in progress) than let the ones on the Creatures Wiki stagnate. If you are going to leave the pages detailing our non-RP exploits, however, I would prefer that the RP sections be replaced by a link to our respective Wiki articles, for the purposes of completeness.

The policy itself is not a problem to me so much as how little visibility the poilicys have been given until recently. However, I do admit that I should have started editing the pages under question myself, and have begun to do so, although, due to schoolwork, I will probably not finish until sometime this weekend. I will try my best to be done by next Monday.

And for future changes in policy, I think it would be a good idea to post anything being seriously considered on the Gameware forums to ensure that anyone who would care knows about it.

I have to say, I side with Muffin on this one. The Creatures Wiki is an encyclopedia based solely on the Creatures Series, not the spinoffs created by it. We have our own Wiki for that. Perhaps a link from the Creatures Wiki to the Blackstar Wiki is appropriate, but we should not be taking up Creatures Wiki space with unrelated Role Playing things...

Well, I guess that's all I can do. There's only two pages left besides the template: Danikat's RP page, which I guess should just be deleted, and Yatt'as page, which I don't know what to do with because i've never heard of him and don't know if he's even around anymore. And both of them are orphan pages, so there's no way anyone would find them unless they were looking for them.

Well my RP page was supposed to be linked to from my other page, unless thats been deleted or edited or something.

But someone may as well delete the RP one. I have no idea how and no time to learn right now, and as I said I never use the Creatures Wiki anyway so it won't bother me whats on there and what isn't.

Well, I edited your other page so it lonked to your Blackstar profile. I just left the RP page up in case there was still anything on it you wanted to copy over.

Mine wasn't on the list but I had cleverly stashed some character profiles on there along with my personal history Wink

Don't worry, they're gone now, and my page is updated to boot.

It's pretty hard to write good things about yourself without feeling like a tool though ._.
